Random Thought Thread

I am now the proud owner of a 2005 Chevy Aveo. Title in hand, I saved myself from a bullet.

After adding all the cost from the impala I wanted. It would have come out to about $325/month to own and drive the car. If I were to go on vacation for even a week I would have been screwed.

Congrats. You said previously it needed repairs? What does it need done?

My uncle bought a bright yellow 05 Aveo hatchback brand new, as gas prices had spiked about that time following Katrina. It's bright yellow and he loves it to death, which we all get a kick at because he's about the closest person I've ever met to a Duck Dynasty cast member. I haven't seen it in years because he keeps it mothballed in his garage for when gas prices really take off. He really values it.

Quinn cam!!
Omg! I had to edit twice!! Where are those dollar store cheater readers?:)

Dad says it needs like a new head, and a timing belt or something. Those Aveo's are kinda crap. They used plastic where Steel should have been used, and parts break pretty easily.

It also needs all the dent's removed
Gas door
door handle
door handle on the inside of passenger door
door lock on the driver side

Most of it don't matter, as long as I get it up and running for now.

That could be expensive if you got to pay a garage to do it. Timing belt is especially important, because if that goes it could well end up having to have a new engine, because all the valves and pistons smash into each other.

I know about running beaters and bangers, I used to do it myself. Going somewhere in a ten year old Ford Escort, the thing erupting in a cloud of steam and oil because the cylinder head gasket blew.

My first car was a 1960s Mini, I got it in 1984. But that was really easy to work on at home, and I could do servicing work myself. What finished that car in the end was rust.

Both the head and the timing belt are intensive repairs, but since you're into the car for free, you'll still be money ahead.

Are there any single/ totally unattached, and not momma's boy type men who value a smart, independent woman out there anymore? I don't think so. Oh well it's Friday so it's all good. :)
PS no I'm not on the forum looking for a date lmao. Was a random thought :)

Yes there are!! Lots of them! Some of My GF seem to have a hard time finding them as well.. IMHO they are looking in all the wrong places so to speak...go for nerd .. Not the party boy:) trust me!

Amazon... Where else do you find things for things even for the holidays in the country?

Yeh, should have thought of that... amazon.cn or TaoBao of course

How do you make a Halloween mask in a country that doesn't do trick-or-treat.....Google it.

Found some at the supermarket in the end. ...and we did have a Halloween party this evening, with everyone speaking English of course.

I don't care for the commercialist part of Halloween (ex. trick or treating, costumes). But I do appreciate its original purpose: to celebrate and honor the dead (especially loved ones).

Holidays are so changed up these days most people probably don't even know the original meaning of the day, let alone even celebrate the actual event.

You can thank the power of the almighty dollar for that. And Christmas is the worst of them all.

Oh yeah. The thing I hate the most... When all family get's together on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and that's literally the ONLY time you ever see them, even talk to them. They talk to you like your all best friends and close family members one day out of the year.

My family's the same when it comes to that. We typically only meet up during those holidays, or if there was a death in the family.
