Ah! I didn't recognise them initially. :) I saw Avatar once, and not really felt an urge to see it again. I presume there's no "unobtanium" in Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens.

BTW it opens here in January, and apparently it's in English with Chinese captions. So probably will go and see it, something to do. Unlike Star Trek, Star Wars has never been banned in the PRC, because it doesn't feature time travel AFAIK.

Well that's random. What do the commies have against time travel? They don't want the peasants fantasizing about going back in time and taking them out? :p
 
Avatar was a terrible film that does not deserve the record it holds.

I'm surprised that star wars isn't banned there. The original trilogy's story of a ragtag group of rebels overthrowing a totalitarian central government would not be well liked by the Party methinks

It also means that TV series like Dr Who, Star Trek and the X-Files are now banned along with the film Terminator.

Star Trek, The X-Files, Back to the Future, The Time Machine, etc. are available on-line legitimately here, but have never been shown on terrestrial or cable TV here. Sci-fi has never really been a very popular genre in China anyway. Much domestically produced TV drama revolves around the dynasties or Japanese occupation.

They never banned Robin Hood, and that's a similar storyline I think.
 
I think they would be OK with Robin Hood because of the whole stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, the official cause of the communist ideology (whether or not it's strictly followed in China)

That's probably why most wore tunics over the bottom half. The pants crotch didn't really get sewn universally together until the 1800s.

You have to clip seams to make them curve, and I think that with the more primitive scissors and other cutting tools, that wasn't easy.

Bill Bender with San Diego Lifeguards at Sunset Cliffs told NBC San Diego: 'Witnesses stated seeing someone distracted by an electronic device and he just fell over the edge.

'(He) wasn't watching where he was walking, he was looking down at the device in his hands.'

He was declared dead at the scene, the television station reported.​

I have the 512MB 1st gen. Makes a good home media center, I have OpenElec (preferred over OSMC) running on mine for streaming and also grabbing movies from my WD NAS. Blu-Ray quality runs as smooth as my Roku 2 but with many more file formats to stream the RasPi is much more versatile.
