The weather that passed through yesterday brought some small hail. It reminded me of a hail story I will share.
In the summer of 1992 I was working North West of my town in a new housing addition. The weather turned bad and I could see the black and purple cloud structure towards my town. An hour or so later I got a call from my wife. The storm had passed right over town and had dropped hail stones just a bit larger than softballs along a path a block wide and two blocks long. Right down my street! It broke every window in my house and most windows on the block. The stones punched through my roof in many places and did over eleven grand worth of damage to my new Oldsmobile station wagon. It stripped all of the foliage from the trees and left bruises on the trunks. I stopped at the lumber yard on my way home and bought a bunch of 7/16 boxing and spent my day boarding up everyone's windows up and down the block. The area looked like a war zone with leafless trees and steam rising from the piles of stones. It is unreal the damage that large hail stones can cause.

I almost never drink at 10 in the morning...but I had a pass to the United lounge.

And I'm traveling with my wife, so...(I'll need a few more). :D

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I saw this robotic mower at work in a lawn yesterday. I searched for it on the net and found that it only cuts 7.5" at a time and is priced right at $700. I shared the video I capture of the mower at work and sent it to my son. He said "sell your mowing equipment while you can" :)

Google:
As of April 2026, 24 states and the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana for adult recreational use. Additionally, 40 states and the District of Columbia have legalized medical marijuana programs.

How things have changed during AF's life! Happy 4-20 Day

I saw that on TOH a few years back. They actually run every few days and aren't designed for really tall grass, just more like maintaining it, sort of like the person who gets their hair trimmed weekly. They're cool for what they are, but also take a bit of work to get all set up.

This was running in a yard that was far from being in dire need of maintenance. I saw it last summer while riding my bike, this time I stopped and grabbed a vid. Not being able to cut tall grass and only cutting 7.5 inches at a time seems a joke until you consider it is running unattended. Who gives a care if you run the thing daily if it doesn't consume one's time? I guess the value would have to be weighed against the life expectancy of the mower with it running nearly daily.
