Root Random typing by itself and moving screens!

I searched all over for answers and nunca. My droid is rooted [luv doing this], more than decent linux skills I have, and do not have a lot of apps on the droid. The other day while walking and listening to tunewiki [Sade, "Baby Father], I walked into JR Music World and the phone went bizerk! First, bluetooth, wireless, and gps all became activated by itself. I was not holding the droid in was in my pants pocket. [I am going to get a great deal comedians responding from this statement].
Next, I was taken to a girlie site from an advertising off of Tunewiki [free version] and it would not go away. Then if that was not crazy enough I hear typing and I pull out the droid and it looks like I had typed random letters in the field.

I could get rid of the typing but I had to stop listening to Sade because I took out the battery. I waited a few minutes put the battery back, placed the droid back into my pocket and it all started all over again. Any advice or suggestions?

For the record I updated better8 keyboard. When I first bought the droid I literally made it unusable for two weeks because I deleted too many system apps and became a member on droid forum and rebuilt the droid. Do not know I how existed without it for so long.

Now I have this issue. Looking forward to reading all the comments resulting from this post.

First, are you sure you are on the right forum? This is the Optimus M board, not the Droid board. If you are just using it generic and it is an Optimus M, then continue reading. That exact thing happened to mine. I tried doing a factory reset and that worked for about a half hour. So, I got it back to original state (i.e. putting everything back that I removed) and took it back to Metro. It was not something that the tech had seen before, but his manager had. They told me that it was a hardware problem and they replaced it.

Yes I am in the correct forum. I have an Optimus LG MS690 and MetroPCS will not take back a phone that is rooted without a fee. I will have to find a workaround for the solution because I know for a fact the folks standing behind the counter, and on the phone for MetroPCS know nothing about Linux just by asking specific questions. Thanks for the insight.

Regards,

Right, what you need to do is get it back to the original state. You can easily use Titanium Pro to install the apps you removed and then convert them back to system apps. (I think you will have to purchase the Pro license to do everything) It would probably be best if you do a factory refresh first, re-root, install Titanium, install the removed apps, then convert them to system apps, and as one last step do the factory refresh one last time. It should work to get it back to the factory state. If your phone acts like mine, it should stop or slow the jumping screens for a few after the refresh, but not for a long time. So, be ready to do all the steps as quickly as possible. You should go ahead and have the removed apps on the sd card and ready to go.

If this is what happened to mine, the is no work around. You cannot work around a hardware failure.

Initially I tried a factory reset and it did not work because the phone was rooted. Thanks for the info but will this info work with an already rooted phone. I do not want to be in a position where I follow this suggested procedures and get stuck because the phone will not reset to its original state. I also loaded "Lookout" and the random screen moving has stopped. I am willing to observe the results of using Titanium Pro after carefully review all information firsts. The main concern is the phone not resetting back to its factory state. Even the techs [no saying much] at MetroPCS could get the phone to reset to factory state. Still interested though pls. advise?

- A Factory Reset will work whether you are rooted or not. Deleting system apps, however, will give you a partial recovery since it can't reinstall what you deleted. Only installing Custom Recovery will disable factory reset.

- System apps usually need to be pushed to the phone using ADB Shell from the Android SDK. Some will not reinstall using their APK, regardless of what you do. At the moment, Titanium is the only app I know of that can backup and restore System Apps. Problem is most people delete them without a backup option in place.

- Aside from restoring a backup, there is no other way back to "true" stock without flashing the phone. If the software is corrupt, this is the best way to fix it. If it is a hardware issue as UKCatFan stated, you'll have to attempt to get it replaced.

- Just some info on personal data. Contacts and purchased apps are stored server side by Google. SMS/MMS can be backed up using several free options. Titanium can backup Apps & their data (settings, game saves, etc), email + settings, bluetooth settings, wifi connections, and almost anything else important on the phone.

I will consider long and hard. I enjoy a challenge I can not be without this droid for one second. It is my office away from the office literally.
