Rant...DNA and Note 2

So, downloading Dark Knight Rises in HD....6.5Gb
I have just over 4GB of music.
The DNA with 11GB usable wouldn't be able to hold a single HD movie!
My God, not one HD movie if I had 4gb of music, let a lone one singe game of 1gb and there are plenty larger than that.
It's a High Definition 1080p freaking device!

How can anyone call it a multi media power house?

That DNA is useless. I sure hope Samsung never gets rid of the mSD slots!
Glad I went with the Note 2.

DNA lovers can go kiss my butt, this is a Note 2 forum and I can hate if I want.

I agree. I was a little interested because of the smaller form factor of the DNA, but I checked my Bionic and I have 11GB of stuff on it already between the two sim cards. HTC really screwed up. If they want to have the phone sealed with no additional storage expansion, they needed to have a 32 and 64GB option.

If the DNA had expandable memory and a decent battery it would be a very attractive device, but to cripple it like they have...going with the Note 2 was a no-brainer.

Between the paltry onboard memory and the non-replaceable battery that can't last for more than 5 or 6 hours, the DNA's only selling point is the 1080p screen. But even there, most people don't see much difference between the DNA screen and the 720p screen on the new Evos.

1080p will be the new standard for hero phones next year, so debates on whether or not it's worth it is moot. However, replaceable batteries and microSD slots will be huge factors on what phone I buy in the future.

i waited for the DNA but after the show last week i moved to the preorder list for the GN2. non removable batteries are the devil and should be avoided at all cost. i don't blame htc for the missing expandable storage however as the j butterfly has a microsd slot. verizons fingerprints are all over that feature or lack their of.

Yes, exactly. I was a serious looker for purchase over the Note 2, BEFORE the specks came out that is.

With a 2500 and mSD, I might still be on the fence.
That was the problem last week. The DNA was rumored to have mSD and 2500 battery. That would have really had me torn between the Note and DNA. I'd still be trying to decide honestly.

"Rant...DNA and Note 2".......Not sure why this is a rant. You weren't duped into buying the DNA; hell, you don't even have it. This is why we have CHOICES. If you want to put your entire music collection and movies on a phone, then get the phone best suited to those wants. I just don't see the point in ranting or trashing a phone for no real reason; esp if you already have the phone you say you're happy with.

I'm one who knows from the onset that I need expandable storage and replaceable battery so any phone without doesn't remain an option. 1080 screen isn't enough reason for me to buy a phone. I don't sit at home watching movies on my phone. That's what my 70" TV is for. Movies on a phone are for when I'm about and have some time to kill and even then I'm accepting the fact it's on a much smaller screen being viewed for maybe 1/2-1 hr.

Same with music. I'm not relying solely on the music on my mSD card or the cloud. The car actually came with a radio.

Choice is great and that is why what obviously doesn't work or matter to you is not my case.
Yes, I do want a ton of movies on my phone. I go TDY for the military all the time. 18 hours on a plane and I need a lot of movies and serious battery capacity through replaceable batteries. With the Army's "hurry up and wait" idea, I often find myself on a crappy bus for hours waiting, etc. Then I sleep in tents with no TVs or movie players.
Driving between bases in a government vehicle when 90% of the crap doesn't work, the ability to use maps off line (large storage) and using GPS without 12v power (crap is always broken) is a must.
If I "only" had even a flat screen when deployed. Rooms come with a 15" tube TV that may work.
When not at work, I do a 1 hour commute to work daily so music is definitely handy to have on the phone also.

Choice is great, but I really didn't get a choice.
How many large screen, power house, multimedia devices are out there?
The Galaxy Nexus 4, No.
DNA, No.
None of these devices seem to have all three things for a great multimedia device:
1) Large screen
2) Large or replaceable battery
3) Large memory. 16gb is pathetic if it is the only source, no mSD.

Also, hopefully you don't live in Columbia SC, good radio stations are non existent.

Military. .. Thank you for keeping us safe!

Actually yes you did get a choice. You just don't like the options available for your needs.
Marketing touts this as the ultimate multimedia device. But it's just that- marketing. No mSD slot, no replaceable battery but a great screen. As an informed consumer you already know this is not the device for you.
