Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

I think every OEM/carrier should allow unlocking of bootloaders through official channels... Sign up on the web page...enter your IMEI/ESN and whatever else they require and agree your warranty is void. It does two things. 1. Eliminates fraudulent returns because they already know your warranty is void. 2. Eliminates waiting and wanting and development can start more quickly and yield better results.
Just my 2¢.

Some manufacturers do allow bootloader unlocking, rooting, customising, and other hackery, OnePlus is one. But then these devices are not sold and subsidised by carriers in western markets, like US and UK, they're sold online and imported.

Personal opinion follows:


Marriage is an overly complicated and expensive way of saying I love you, and for me (romantic cynicism aside) it's not appealing at all

Don't know about an actual dog eating festival, but in Guangxi, Guangdong, Jilin, Heilongjiang and Korea, yeh canis familiaris might be on the menu in some places rather than being man's best friend. We don't eat dog in Inner Mongolia and many other parts of China. Although we might be eating some other forms of canidae.

For Mongolians, horses are like "man's best friend" here, and are just not eaten at all, although do eat donkey and camel.

BTW @Kaat72 if you're ever in Beijing or around Hebei, you really should try some barbecue scorpion. o_O

As bjacks12 can attest, people in the Philippines eat pickled eggs with the hatchlings inside.

(Shudder).

People in Scotland eat haggis (I have - it's actually not too bad), and taddies. Southerners from the rural Appalachians call these "mountain oysters."

Nope. Not for me.

My grandfather bathed tripe in marinara, and had me eat it when I was six or seven years old.

I didn't know any better. When I got older, he offered me 'trippa' once again.

I politely declined, saying I was still full from my lunch at school...

With different cultures, you get different foods. All people of the world should be free to enjoy the food that they like.

Myself, I'll stick with the foods I know. Andrew Zimmern be damned. A chef from Minnesota, his television series is a 'ralphfest'... but, PattiCakeUS, since I have relatives in Minnesota, I'll eat curds with you anytime.

Different strokes for different folks. I'll skip the Zimmern diet, that's for sure... LW

People always joke that the sex becomes virtually non-existent after 7 - 10 years of marriage. Raising children has a lot to do with it; not to mention when your mate becomes unattractive due to bad habits.

I'm 5'10 plus", weigh 207 lbs., have a flat stomach (well, flat for a guy getting ready to turn 53 years old), and am considered fairly attractive - at least, by the woman in my life that matters.

That's all that matters to me. LW

Something that bugs me though, is when you're in a parking lot of a store or whatever, trying to back out of the space, you look both ways & see nobody, then someone comes flying by. As you're backing up. So you have to stop FAST to avoid hitting them. Not cool. :confused:

I bet it would be more satisfying than what I currently do. I get out, move the stupid cart, park in the spot, then walk the cart either to a cart corral or inside the store, with an annoyed scowl :mad: on my face. I just did this exact thing a couple days ago! :D
 
I am so Sick-and-Tired of stupid Paper Work!

Okay...my rant for the day has to with the Fed Gov't Procurement rules. The company I work for is in the process of attempting to get our Procurement System certified by the Federal Gov't. So we are required to follow the Federal Gov't rules for procurement. Just recently I have been required to create several new forms. A few of which, personally, I think are complete waste of time.

Just recently, because of the Fed Gov't procurement rules, instead of accepting an email as an official Purchase Request, now a Purchase Request form must be completed. The original requester is supposed to fill out the form, but since they usually are in job positions above me, of course I am the one who is required to fill out the form.

Then if I am processing a procurement where I do not get 3 separate quotes, a Sole Source Justification Authorization form must be completed. Our Procurement Policy requires the requester to complete the form, however, again the requestors usually out rank me, so again, I am the one that must complete the form.

Remember, all of the above must be completed before I even enter a Requisition into the Procurement System for approval. Then, of course I have to wait for the required approvals, and then process the Requisition into a Purchase Order, all before the order can be placed.

Sorry for the looooonnnnngggg rant, I just hate unnecessary paperwork!
