That apparently the 'you get what you pay for' mantra isn't always correct. Case in point. Last week, I spent $100 for a set of Jlab True Wireless ANC Sport Pros, since they had the 'clips' that held onto my ears like my old Philips wired set (and therefore don't fall out of my ears or become vulnerable to curious deer or goats at petting zoos). First week they worked great, and this was when I just got the Galaxy A03s. But I recently went to Spectrum Mobile and upgraded to a faster Galaxy A14 5G (to have future proofing as after 3G's death I can't count on 4G being around long enough to be confident). Thought it'd be as simple as unpairing then rep-pairing to the new phone, right? WRONG!
The Jlabs have a really convoluted procedure for resetting them and re-entering pairing mode, and with my failing dexterity I couldn't figure it out. I'd end up with either the right or left bud pairing by itself, or them both showing up as two different headsets. Obviously that broke their companion app meaning no ANC or Be Aware (transparency) or Equalizer. Also they would both be in mono audio.
I tried many attempts to follow the instructions by the letter but ultimately always ended with one pairing and not the other, or them both pairing as separate headsets with the same name. I got angry, smashed the case to the floor, which now no longer charges the buds, and now, realizing it's entirely useless, I took a hammer in frustration to the buds themselves, and tossed 'em. I didn't want to return them to Walmart because our Walmart has been known to put returns back on the shelf for a discounted price, including non-functioning returns, and I, being burned before that way, didn't want to subject another poor schmuck to that! But still, $100 lost. One week of use, and apparently learning that Jlab buds are pretty much 'married' to the first device you pair them with.
My solution to this was to revive my failing Galaxy Buds Live, which had the left so quiet as to be inaudible, with the right very distorted and loud. I learned that while disgusting, that 'sucking' on the buds fixes that issue. Go figure! Just need to stay away from curious animals (I've heard stories of dogs eating AirPods) Doesn't help they are shaped and look like beans.
