I just LOVE it when folks think they're saving money by buying inferior quality parts for their golf car. Such as the wrong solenoid. I just had to replace the most expensive component on an EZGO RXV (a drive by wire electric golf car, and this part is the speed controller--basically the ECM, which costs $1200+). The moron had tried to use a 12V solenoid from Auto Zone to replace their melted and bad one. They obviously forgot to read that it's supposed to be a heavy duty, constant duty cycle 36V solenoid, not a start-only low duty cycle 12V Made in China special.
They, in attempting to save $25 in parts, ended up costing more than $1,000. This happens far too often. But the real anger inducing moment is they blame US! I mean if you think you know everything why even come here to us?
Then you get those who had low voltage = heat which ultimately = controller turned into melted slag because of inferior, cheap batteries. Especially with Rural King branding. I don't really give a crap how Rural King gets away with slapping a 'Golf Car' label on the same battery they carry for a '30's McCormick Farmall, but the fact is you get what you pay for. The crappy $50 battery is going to have far less AH and capacity to drive a golf car, and anyone with any knowledge about electricity and Ohm's Law can tell you that low voltage = higher resistance and higher resistance = heat and the weakest link in the chain is what ultimately lets the magic smoke out.
