Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Handicap Parking - Those that use it are getting out of hand. Half of them never seem to be able to park in between the lines!

One managed to block the whole ramp from the store to the parking lot. No one could wheel a cart out. Even another handicapped person on a scooter had to go way out of his way to get to his car.

Another one parked halfway across the barred lines that are for vans with side lifts.
Someone needs to police these people. They have to obey the rules same as everyone else. I don't begrudge them special parking, but dammit, think about someone rather than yourself! Especially another handicapped person.

What about people that think obesity is deserving of a handicap tag? My parents live near an area that could rival any city in the country as the capital of obesity. There are literally 8 rows deep of parking spaces for each parking aisle at the local Walmart store because there are so many obese people in that particular city.

I know some people think that having a bias against the obese and overweight is like having a bias against a race or a gender, but people become obese by making poor decisions about their eating, as well as by not exercising regularly. Sure there's a very small percentage of people that have medical conditions, but I think some people are trying to use that as an excuse for their condition.

If it were up to me, I make it a law that required people to park further away, the more they weighed. Granted, I'm not exactly a lightweight so I'd have to park out a little further, but the walking would do me some good....

Wouldn't be a bad idea in some cases. I've seen all kinds of people blocking aisles in the parking lot just to get a close in space. You can't back up, you can't go around, either.

I've been in situations where I could have had a temp handicap, but as long as I can walk - I'll park farther away and WALK. Saves gas and temper.

@txgoat - love that sig.

Just got yelled at by some biatch who was trying to "give" away free shopping certificates for $250. Told her I wasn't interested and she was furious.

Well, it's free and totally legit ;)

A lot of things grind my gears, and this one in particular is kind of hard to explain, and I'm thinking the issue stems from me as opposed to anything else.

Also, I am under the impression that all my problems or at least stress, all stems from cash (or lack of cash).

Just found this thread. Going to be sorry you asked!

Mothers dressing 10 year old girls in clothes I can only describe as "club wear". I went to temple last night to see my nephew perform. (5th grade Shabbaton...)Most boys wore nice slacks and a button down shirt. Girls, however, were a different story. Skirts that were shorter than I can describe. Off the shoulder shirts, with bra straps sticking out... 5 inch heels...mascara...

These are 10 year old girls! Get a grip!

I am in NY. All for ethnic diversity. But....these things make me crazy!

Street signs in languages other than English. Makes it hard for the local police and fire departments to find you!

Immigrants who live here for 30 plus years, have children here, work here, establish businesses here, BUT STILL DON'T SPEAK A WORD OF ENGLISH!

Immigrants who expect the PUBLIC SCHOOL to cater to them. Literally. Local group of parents wanted school to have a kosher kitchen to allow for their kids dietary needs. I am Jewish. I know what this entails. Send your kid with a home packed kosher meal....or send them to a Yeshiva!

Going to be sorry you found this thread, which in turn is going to make us sorry that we asked because you're going to be sorry that I replied :D (granted I find it a little disgusting when I watch the video)....

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifesty...fends-giving-daughter-caffeine-pageant-crack/

When I saw this a few months ago, I couldn't help wonder why this woman hasn't been stripped of her parental rights.

ABCNews said:
Alana Thompson is a first-grader from rural McIntyre, Georgia, who is making waves on the pageant circuit by embracing her Southern roots and showing off plenty of moves.
She is a regular on the hit TLC show “Toddlers and Tiaras,” where her self-created nickname, Honey Boo Boo, has stuck.

But perhaps what six-year-old Alana has become best known for on the show is how she gets all the energy to be a star on the demanding pageant stage.
Her mother, June Shannon, is stirring up a controversy of her own with a concoction she created to give her daughter a kick on those long pageant days.
“My special juice is going to help me win,” Alana says in one of the show’s episodes. “My Go-Go Juice is kicking in right now.”
Shannon makes Alana’s “Go-Go Juice” herself using a combination of part Mountain Dew and part Red Bull, two well-known energy drinks.
One can of each of the two drinks combined contains about the same amount of caffeine as two cups of coffee.
Shannon turned to Go-Go Juice after finding that the two bags of Pixy Stixs, the powdered candy in a wrapper that resembles a drinking straw, and is known in the pageant world as “pageant crack,” she was feeding Alana were not enough to keep her alert all day during pageant competitions.
“When they do get on stage you have to be alive and…your personality has to shine a long day,” Shannon told “Good Morning America.” “A pageant day can last from 7 in the morning to 6,7,8,9, 10 at night, so performing and getting a kid up that early and lasting all day without a rest, you have to energize their body.”
“There are far worse things,” she said, defending her choice. “I could be giving her alcohol.”
Shannon also says that she is not alone in her caffeinated solution, noting that sugar highs and caffeine fixes are a staple on the pageant circuit.
“Everybody does it,” she told “GMA.” “There are normal people who give their kids this, so why is it such a big issue with us pageant moms that do it all weekend to keep our kids energized and awake?”
“GMA” observed young beauty contestants at a pageant in New York City eating Skittles candies and drinking caffeinated soda as early as seven in the morning. At another pageant, in Austin, Texas, there also was no shortage of “pageant crack” to be found, consumed morning to night.
According to a 2011 report from the American Academy of Pediatrics, too much caffeine for a young child can lead to neurological and cardiovascular problems. Doctors also say that too much caffeine and sugar can to lead to a risk of physical dependence and addiction.
To critics who say that such a high amount of caffeine at such a young age could endanger Alana’s health now and in the future, Shannon says her daughter is a well-adjusted and active six year old who normally eats a healthy diet and is always on the move when she’s not competing on the pageant circuit.
Asked if she is concerned that her daughter may become addicted to sugar, she replied, “I don’t.”
“She’s got meat on her,” she said of her daughter’s physique. “She’s not skinny but, whether skinny or fat, I am still going to love my children regardless. I could care less if they get up to 1,000 pounds; I am still going to love them.”

Politics. I think the main problem with politics is people. The X factor, humans. I honestly think that both extremes of the political system would be great (communism and anarchism), with the simple requirement that no humans are involved.

Communism. Everyone works and get's paid for their work. Governments take care of citizens. All good.

Anarchism: No government butting in. Everyone helping people out.

I think both of these would be great, given that no humans are allowed in.
On a unrelated note, I can't wait for the singularity. I think we'll achieve a more perfect society when we assimilate ourselves into machines.

(That being said, I'm not a prophet and have to powers of foresight, so it could all go to hell just as easily. >.> )

Superglue in my mouth.

Feels kind of funny, my upper lip is securely stucked to my front teeth, and at the same teeth my tounge sticks at the back of them.

Time for toothbrushing with some acetone. Again.

Why do you have super glue in your mouth? Hope you get rid of it.

Frickin wind is getting to me. 10-20mph steady with gusts up to 40-50. Been like this most of Feb. Problem is - storm moves east, the rest of the country gets zapped with SEVERE weather. Another front moving through the Rockies today, tonight and tomorrow.

JEEPERS CREEEEPERS

Well... what really grinds my cogs is that AM I THE ONLY CHOSEN ONE in the whoooole wiiiiide woooorld????

Stupid name changes...Google Play? Sounds like a gaming site.

Google MARKET? Sounds like stuff(games/apps/books/music/etc...) for Google / Android.

If you are going to write a tutorial, make sure that those of us who had reading and writing pounded into us as kids can understand it. Not so much spelling and the basic grammar errors, but dammit - use an antecedent. Don't talk about two different processes and refer to both as it in the same sentence!

Don't assume that everyone is a geek and knows what you are talking about. Start at step one. Don't start in the middle and backtrack.

I've been on the receiving end - do such and such and reboot. A lot of us think it's just the phone when you mean the computer, too.

Ummm.. My rant is that I rooted my evo, and um... like, I thought it would be able to teleport me... I swore I read that in the dummies guide. And that I would never need to charge the battery again.
;) j/k karan...

But, yeah, people gotta realize that it's a cure all....

I dont assume everyone is a geek . But if you want to root/flash custom ROMs ,I do take the liberty to make certain assumptions .

You know how to download a file
You know how to extract a file using Winrar
You know how to click a button .
Also somewhat clean language [tx bro i diff KP no root makes no sense]

Thats the bare minimum I ask

I was told my phone will do the dishes after rooting .All lies ,all lies ...
