Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Doesn't anyone know the distinction between pedal and peddle anymore?
A peddler - one who peddles - is either the old Yankee type that sold everything from thread to hardware from his cart, or a snake-oil salesman.

Someone who rides a mountain bike like the proverbial bat, uses a PEDAL. He/she pedals it.

I see a lot peddle (machines use a pedal) in sewing fora, but now it's starting to turn up in blogs and headlines.
Bamboo bike recharges mobile devices, external batteries by peddling. Headline from Science Daily

What's the bike selling?

That would be a treadle wouldn't it? Some machines use a treadle to make them go, like sewing machines.

I tend to like doctors, I'm alive because of them....

I did 18 months in Iraq and 8 months in Afghanistan.

We were ambushed and I was shot 12 times and took shrapnel from an rpg blast.
I'm alive and relatively healthy because of an amazing team of doctors and Nurses who spent hours picking shrapnel and bullets out of my body, not to mention all the things they had to remove fix or relocate.

I have a great team of mental health professionals who help me cope with PTSD and despite the negative things that have gone on with the Veterans Administration, I am lucky to have great VA services in my area.

Also, my wife is a nurse at a women's clinic and they have a team of amazing doctors who go above and beyond.

I know I'm not alone when I say now, thanks for your service and your sacrifice.

I've probably said this before in this thread somewhere, but it irks me so much I want to say it again.

Enough with the inspirational quotes on Facebook. And why the hell is it always the trashiest people that share them?

Love this parody of them.

Thank you again, MLS5 for what you did for us. I was in the Army myself, years ago. I had a bad reaction to overseas shots, and they found out I was a diabetic - Honorable Discharge, Medical. I still have dreams of that experience, which was nowhere near what you went through; but, it still shakes me up, nonetheless. By the time you hit AIT, you learn that it isn't about you - it's about the guys around you (and, women), and the platoon you serve with.

Tomorrow, at 4:30 pm EST, I get to pick my lady up at the airport. That means that I've got to give the house another vacuuming, and, straightening up. I went to get my prescriptions today, so, I'm peaceful, and very happy about the low gasoline prices ($14 got me from a quarter-tank to in-between three-quarters and full; or, as our Brit brothers and sisters say it: "I nearly brimmed the tank!").

May everyone enjoy Hump Day tomorrow... no double-entendre intended. LW

Time to root the Keurig.

Though, prepackaged coffee is not for me. I like to add the amount coffee desired.
I used to say that one day Android would be everywhere and I'd go off and mod an appliance forum.

This whole thing is just sad.

Anyway, the one at work is one of the early ones with the separate k cup thing. A few teaspoons of Cafe Bustelo makes for decent, not expensive cup of joe.

Not Android exactly, but having my phone charged through the air by my refrigerator might be cool. :p

Keurig's been rooted. Someone found a workaround. One method is to save the KCups and fill with your desired brand.

I wouldn't use it. The thermal mugs we buy are 20 oz. I have a knock-off Cuisinart and that coffeemaker assumes that cups are 5 oz. I have to use the 4 cup setting to fill the mug.

About the cat pan:

I don't think my cats would use one. The Meez got scared by an automatic watering device and refused to drink from it after that. I wouldn't be too sure about what was in those pellets. Litter does stick to cats' feet and they will ingest it when they wash.
