Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Well I liked Anchorman. So there. :p

The list of comics that met tragic ends is indeed a long one. Don't forget John Belushi and Chris Farley.

To me, all comedians wear out their welcome eventually. A big part of comedy is surprise, and that only lasts for so long. Some can go on as basically nostalgia acts in stand up, or sand off the edge and go the family-friendly movie route, but the real belly laughs usually come early. Rough business to commit a life to.

I think that Kinison was far more creative, and shtick applies for most comics - as opposed to comedians. As the great man said, one says things funny, the other says funny things. Kinison did both.

I also liked the IT Crowd, they didn't make enough of those.
The IT crowd is pretty funny. I love Moss. The two main actors have been in a lot of good shows in the UK; Black's Books is one I can think of off the top of my head...

Unfortunately, Hollywood likes to take these shows and "translate" them into American... Always badly, despite sometimes having really good actors.

I am not a fan of The Office, neither the UK original nor the American one, but the UK one was noticeably funnier to me.

People with prejudices. They have already made up their mind, without taking the time or effort to get to know someone. Pretty easy to express an opinion about another, without learning about the fight that another might be fighting. What comes for granted for you, might not be that easy for another.

Kaat72, you're so right.

What comes easy for some - whether it is mathematics, poetry, or even a game of Trivial Pursuit - may not be the same for others.

In the spirit of all brothers and sisters in humankind, we should reach out, with no judgement and abundant love, and help those who are weak, where others are strong. The end result would be a tenable peace, that would benefit all of us here on Spaceship Earth (that last pronoun phrase I borrowed from a great American writer, Stephen King). LW

Do you know why? People suck, that's why! People are awful creatures. Individual persons are cool, but people as a whole, suck!

no one, not all people suck. If you looked at the world in 'the big picture', you'd find that less than 5% of the total world population are made up of despots, radicals, bigots and racists - people, that suck.

There are many good people in our world. People who are just regular, decent people that have the best of intentions.

However, all of us who live in any society knows that bad news spreads faster than the good news that happens everyday.

I don't even know you, no one, but - I don't think that you suck. It would be like putting the cart before the horse to assume that you do, indeed, suck.

We all need to be more tolerant, kinder, and more patient with one another.

That's how I was raised as a child, and, I still believe most of us are wonderful human beings.

My positive rant for the day. Hang in there, no one. Be happy. LW

Good sir, i respectfully agree to disagree. You are entitled to your opinion. You can most certainly give people the benefit of the doubt to the fact that they decent. I however, do not trust people as far as i can throw them. I honestly hate people. I do like individual persons though. And sir, i do indeed, suck.

Speaking of sucking....
