Rate how easy to sync with MS Office Outlook

I use CompanionLink. Any changes I make to my calendar or contacts in Outlook 2007 (standalone version) on my desktop show up on my phone and visa versa. This works for me. I think tasks are now supported.

I'm no power user, though, just someone who wants everything to sync completely and silently in the background without me doing anything.

One of the best Exchange apps I've used is TouchDown from the market...you can download the 30 day trial to see if you like it. You can sync your mail, tasks, calendar, etc. It's the best one I've used and the best one for your email looking exactly like the email in your Outlook account.

The only problem I've had with sync is with keeping contacts synced between EVO/Gmail/Outlook.
I can either sync EVO contacts(gmail addressbook) with Gmail - or EVO contacts (phone addressbook) with outlook.

I wish Google would provide an applications (like their Calendar Sync) that would let contacts be synced between outlook and gmail.

P.S. I'm referring to the outlook client (not linked to Exchange server)

Amen. I miss my palm setup. Tired of multiple entries on my EVO (Touch Calendar) - Thinking of skipping the google cloud.

I'm the Exchange admin for our company and I have no problems at all. Andriod ver 2.2 supports our Exchange polices by default so that was a big improvement over versions prior. Some of the older versions have to use "touchdown" as CMCollins001 mentioned above and that worked like a champ too. But it's pretty seamless and easy to use..IMO

I haven't tried synchronizing Android with Outlook through an Exchange Server, but if you don't have access to an Exchange Server, you can automatically synchronize Outlook (or Windows Live Mail) email, contacts, and calendar with your Android device, as long as you have a Hotmail, MSN Mail, or Live email account. Instructions are here.

Any contact or calendar items will have to be on your Hotmail/MSN/Live account and will not be synchronized with Gmail (which is arguably a good thing) or be searchable with Google Voice Search (which is not a good thing since it works better than the built in voice dialer) but you can still use those contacts to make phone calls, send emails, navigate, etc.

The caveat is that is that you need to keep your Outlook contacts and calendar events on a Hotmail/MSN/Live account in Outlook.

I sync my Evo to a corporate Exchange Server. Setup was easy and quick. My only issue is not being able to sync the Notes from Outlook to the phone.

Same here, I use an exchange server and it's amazing. I usually get emails to my phone before I get them to my desktop (if I'm actively updating the account, which usually updates every 30 minutes I think).
