razr maxxx announced

I disagree and I don't think that happened. Quite frankly what I think happened is moto saw all the complaints on the razr battery life and at that point realized they should have designed it with a larger battery. I strongly suspect that if the maxx sells well they cease to produce the non-maxx.
.

There is no way they turned around a new model based on customer complaints in 2 months. They had this phone in the pipeline all along.

I'd be interested in the larger batt and back cover of the RM for my Razr for sure. I'd take it apart to get it in there. Heck that's almost twice the size of the regular battery!! As for China getting the newer models first, that's bs. Everyone, whether it's Europe or China or whoever seems to get the newest stuff first while we sit on our hands and moan about where the hell is the new stuff. Hell...maybe I'll go back to the plain phone and they can sit and spin and I'll keep my money....

Not really the right thread; but the xda folks figure it was a simple network tuning parameter; you can fix it if you are willing to root your phone. Basically the mtu is too high on the razr. Kind of silly because it is networking 101; even more silly they haven't released a fix yet. On linux you would do somethijng like ifconfig [interface] mtu 1400; i'll have to digou t the syntax for andriod if you are interested.

The razr is prolly the last moto i'll get. I've delt with the hotspot issue since day one, and instead of a fix, lets release a new phone.

Bigger battery? Meh. I usually get two days out of my battery now. I don't really need a bigger one.

I know the releasing of new devices every 6 days is kinda getting OLD. I remember buying a Droid 3 on release day what 6 months ago? and now the Droid 4 is coming out? A Razr maxx 2 months after the razr? Most people can't and won't upgrade at full retail. WTF did we pay the same price for a Razr when 2 months later a new Razr with double the battery life comes out? I think I'm gonna head back to the iPhone..

That's the nature of android. Get something and about a month later u hear about something else. I have the galaxy nexus and I'm sure within a month or so something better will come out. But at least I get the updates. I'm OK with not having the latest and greatest. You will go broke trying to keep up. I usually upgrade every year.

Look if u really want a max u can trade your phone in or sell it. I guess its the nature of the cell world.

I really wasn't wanting to root this phone. Motorola cs kept trying to get me to change the MTu on my notebook instead of fixing the real problem. I can't change it on my notebook either. I might have to end up rooting it. Ill do some research over on xda. Thanks.

It is easy enough to change on your notebook (both windows and linux). I'll try to dig out the xda thread that shows the various methods.

There is another thread with title hotspot not working so i'll repsond in that one.

I meant tablet not notebook. I can change the mtu on my notebook but wont. My transformer wont let me.

Edit- I rooted and it now works flawless. Rooting the razr is alot easier than the bolt. Thanks

Will be returning my razr tomorrow, re-activating my original droid, then when the razr maxx hits stores I will be picking one up. luckily I still have till the 15th to return my razr so the razr maxx announcment came just in time.

Does anyone have any hard evidence of the release date of the RAZR Maxx? From what I read they're going to cut $100 off the price of the normal RAZR when then Maxx comes out. I don't think I'm gonna need the longer battery life, and I know I don't want it any thicker than it needs to be.

Aside from 32gb internal storage and the larger battery, there's no difference... correct?

16g internal and 16g sd card = 32g TOTAL.

Only difference is battery.

Are you sure it doesn't have 32gb internal with a 16gb (or 32gb) SD card? I could have sworn that's what I read, but I might have just skimmed too fast.

Either way, I don't want the Maxx, especially if the normal RAZR will be $199 and thinner.

Spoke with verizon today, 16gig internal and 16 gig Sd card. 32gig total.

If that's for the Maxx, what does the original Droid Razr have?

The exact same. That's what he was getting at, the only change for the RAZR Maxx (for us in the United States at least, I think China gets one with a better phone and other things) is the increased battery life. Also, it's a bit thicker, due to the thicker battery that's giving you those precious hours some people crave.

Supposedly, the release date is Jan 26. It's on the Moto site, but only on the spec page here: DROID RAZR MAXX - Extended Battery Life - Android Smartphone - SPECS - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA
Edit: Scratch that. Looks like they jumped the gun and took down the notification. Now says "coming soon."

From what I understand, the price on the regular RAZR will drop, but it won't include the 16gig sd card. Swapping mine today, and holding on with my OG Droid for another couple of weeks.

Don't really understand all the hoopla here. Who wouldn't want a bigger battery? It's the same price I originally paid for my RAZR, and only slightly thicker. The only noticeable difference is the camera hump doesn't have the sharp curve, and leads up to it smoothly. At the bottom it's practically the same, and nothing else has changed. Yay for giant batteries!

I don't understand the reaction here... The Maxx is groundbreaking in a very important way. More battery capacity is just what's needed badly in the LTE handset space.

I'm finally making the long-desired switch from Sprint to Verizon, and the Razr Maxx will be my first device. Bonus: my Lapdock 100 makes the switch, too!
