Razr questions answered

Took back my Bionic and wanted this but the no World Phone and this CPU deal just smells like trouble. Very disappointing.
 
Since I am on AT&T and really want this phone without changing carriers, negrielectronics and mobilecityonline has the unbranded gsm version for preorder for $600. Hope it comes out no later than the Verizon version.

The sim is needed for the 4G function, so a lot of us assumed it would be a WW phone, but the FCC listing apparently shows that function disabled. Added: All of the media "first looks" I have seen also say it is not WW.

I am keeping my D3 (is WW), even if getting the Razr, but might wait until first adopters go through the motions. Be careful going by media reviews, since they are usually less than 48 hours of use and not at the pace a REAL owner would put it through.

Need real user reviews. The DX2 seemed great until using the device beyond the "new toy glitter" period. Then the audio pops, lag, heat, reboots, etc kicked in as trends rather than anomalies. I had new toy glitter in my eyes too and figured the issue were anomalies- wrong for me.

I know what you mean and hope moto fixed the bugs the bionic had because this could be a huge seller for them as long as it isnt bug ridden like the x2 and bionic.
 
I'm caring less about WW in the time I'll have this phone, but my case is specific. While I'll likely travel internationally, I'll do so on a work phone. As long as I have wifi in the hotel, and skype actually works, I'll be good. If the WW function becomes available, that's just gravy.

Good point except for me, most of US travel is vacation. Nice option though.

I am biting my lip waiting for this phone, I return the Bionic on my last day cause I heard of the Razr coming out in Nov. I hope somebody can give me the exact date, I hate waiting. LOL

You can preorder this friday (10/27), and engadget ran a post implying that it may also be available in stores this friday, too...which, i suppose would make a "preorder" just a regular "order".

There are conflicting sources on Razr processors, so I don't know who's really right. But Moto site says it's 4430 and both Samsung, TI confirmed Nexus has 4460. I think someone needs to tear down Razr to reveal it and put it to rest.

Actually preorders are thursday so most likely you will be able to order wed at 12:01(technically thur)

I'm gonna go with that. I think it said 4460 and Moto changed to 4430 IIRC. All I know is this specific 4430 is a lil different than whats in the Bionic besides the wee bit of an overclock.

Anandtech did some quick benchmarks and it scored up there on 2 browser benchmarks. I wonder does going from 1Ghz to 1.2Ghz make that much of a difference? It scored higher than the GS2, and was a close 2nd to the iPhone 4S. Maybe Moto tweaked the browser on the RAZR, maybe it was on a later Android OS....who knows whats going on....I just want this phone to hurry up and come out!!! lol

I dont think the.2ghz overclock would do that much. Most likely they tweaked the browser and with 2.3.5 that helped too.
 
I do have a question if I buy an unlocked international version, and the battery cover doesn't come off, where do I put the SIM card at?

I have become VERY suspect if synthetic benchmarks. Practical performance and battery life are the keys. My litmus is Offroad Racing on N64 and Tobal 2 on FPse. Play them smooth (Droid 3 does not, Flyer does) and I am sold :)

Yeah well afterall this is a phone so gaming isn't a thing most care about. I could care less how well it plays those games I am more concerned with the battery life. After all the games are nice but if the phone is dead all the time it does little how well it can play them;)
 
Balance for me is preferred, but I would not trust Quadrant or other synthetics with an eleven foot pole. I skipped ten.
 
I am curious as to what the advanced is on this screen? They saay it's leaps and bounds better than the super amoled

For me I would take great battery over gaming performance. Then again I don't use my phone to play games like that. I just think they are going to focus more on battery and not really put as much focus on gaming since that isn't going to be that big of a selling point to most people.
