Re-activate DX after buying Rezound?

I'm currently running my OG DX. I am planning on buying a Rezound but don't want to use it during work trips (I work at power plants) for fear of damaging the new phone.

I know that with previous phones I could go to myverizon online and swap between phones myself. Do the newer 4G phones behave in the same manner? The reason I ask is that the LTE phones have SIM cards whereas the 3G and older phones don't.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

the activated SIM card will expire once you go from a 4G device to a 3G device. you will need a new SIM card each time you try to activate the 4G device after coming from the 3G device.

Have you called the free Verizon support number *611 to see if this is viable. Its a smart idea so you don't damage your Rezound.

I can confirm this. Once you remove service from a 4G SIM card, you have to get a new SIM card, and the Customer Service reps I had the "pleasure" of dealing with, they wouldn't send me a free SIM card. I'm not sure why considering AT&T has no problems sending out extra SIM cards with free shipping even!

I wish there was a way that the sim would not expire going from 4g-3g phone. It is such a pain having to get a new sim card switching from 3g-4g and back.

I called and checked with some Verizon support people and yes you do need a new SIM card every time you want to jump back and forth.

What a pain! :(

I'm probably just gonna pay for insurance, sell my DX, and live with it. :)

You could always get an otterbox case and if the belt clip is not enough protection, look for a different pouch that full encases the phone.

That way you'll have good protection, and if you don't like the bulk, only use it on site and then use a different case or none at all when you're not.
