Just a quick question,
Im on the 3 network, and not only do I want to get rid of the tripe they put on the phone, but I would like to update to 2.3 also.
By debranding would I then be able to update to 2.3?

Yes, you should be able to get the OTA update.

If it didn't work, there are other ways and means of getting 2.3.3 on there.

Yeah - you'd be able to use a stock unbranded ROM that you can download here - http://androidforums.com/htc-desire-hd/196270-htc-desire-hd-useful-links-files.html

Think you may have to create a goldcard to put this on your phone, as it's on the 3 network and you'd be flashing an unbranded ROM on your phone.
