Root Re-root after OTA update (12-3-2012).

Hello all,

I just got the update that folks are saying supposedly fixes the signal fluctuations, then I got an update that states it was to fix an MMS issue. After the first update my phone did the "updating apps" thing when it started back up. And after the MMS update it switched my launcher to the stock Sense one (which was odd since Nova has always been my default).

So I'm not sure which one did it, but one of them seems to have killed my root. I stilll have Superuser installed but it doesn't seem to work.

Whats the easiest way to re-root? I don't want to install a custom ROM or anything since I haven't done the S-OFF trick, I just want root on stock.

Thanks!

Uninstall su. Reinstall su.

It looks like I can't uninstall the app (must have been installed via a zip in custom recovery?). I did uninstall the updates and redownload the updates. But even the Superuser app is saying that it can't gain SU.

Edit:

I had the same thing happen with my Nexus 7. When I updated to 4.2 and then 4.2.1 it killed my root both times. I just had to run the Nexus toolkit, use the root option and it fixed it.

So I just need to know what I need to do for the Evo V, what zip I can flash in recover or whatnot to re-root.

Thanks!

I can post a flashable zip here in a minute.

Or uninstall su with Link2SD, reinstall su, convert to system app with link2sd, reboot, open su and update binary.

All the zip is gonna do is put su in your /system/app folder.

Same can be accomplished with link.

That would be great if you could give me a flashable zip.

I'm in no way a novice user, but all of that link2sd stuff sounds like too much work. :)

I just want to reboot into recovery, flash a zip and have it done with.

Thanks again.
