Root Read this if you are having any issues with the ICS update (trust me, your answer is probably here)

Thanks for the recommendations everyone! Here is a little update. On Friday when I got home I flashed back to my nandroid backup of my BO3.0 rom. I found that when it came back up that time it worked great and connected with no issues. I then tried to flash all of the new ROMs that have been been posted. Will be trying the the new icy fusion one shortly. But none seem to allow my radio to connect and simply starts to reboot as soon as it searches for signal. I found that if I can get it into airplane mode it will work.

However I have noticed recommendations popping up stating to wipe the davlik as well as run the fix permissions, those are two new ones to me, and i am going to do that before i flash my next ICS rom to see if that helps. Thanks!

To force push V7 using the LG firmware thread, does that have to be done over a windows machine? I am running Ubuntu and it seems the driver package is windows oriented.

The only way to push .cab or .tot files is thru windows. I do not recommend trying WINE as your will most likely be left with a bricked phone and at best, it will error out.

How did you manage to push V7 into the phone?
-I have the "Security error" message
-I have tried to do a factory reset, but it does not help
-I followed the instructions to do the v7 push with KP500 application
-The LG update tool fails at 50% and says "This is not possible any longer due to a fatal error"

Can someone please help? D:

50% of what step? The initial looking at your phone or after it's given you a message about extracting files. If you're given a option to restart, then choose restart. My guess is that you do not have an internet connection on the machine your using or your firewall is blocking it. I can confirm that as of today, the v7 cab still flashes successfully.

Edit: also check to make sure you downloaded the full .cab file. The full file should be 580MB.

Ok, I am definitely at a loss on this one now. My phone worked all weekend without issue on multiple roms. However once again while driving to work this morning it began to reboot and fails when searching for signal each time at start up and then reboots again. I have about a 1 hour commute and cross a state line on my way. It begins to reboot just after crossing the state line.

So the phone connects and works perfectly when I am at home but when I leave the immediate area (roaming?) it fails to connect and starts rebooting. the fact that it can connect without issue while home seems to say that the SIM card is ok. I did find this thread at xda forums that seems to describe what I am experiencing however it is talking about the GSIII...

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. I went from BrokenOut 3.0 back to stock V6 unrooted but I think it somehow kept CWM which I was under the impression it was going to remove. When I try to take OTA just gets stuck in the loop. The loop fix gets me out but then i'm still on V6. Any advice to take the ota since I cant force on my Ubuntu machine? Thanks again for your help.

Use this to get stock recovery back, then you can take the update

Thank you everybody I am finally on V7 although I think I'm going to wait to root and rom until the processes involved are consolidated if you will.

Rooting is rock solid on v7... just use PG's one click script for ICS.

The bootloader unlock requires (and provides) a custom kernel (thanks for giving us one, TDM!)... but beware... it seems to break bluetooth.

The bootloader throws me for a loop. What order should i go in? Root then bootloader then rom? Can you flash a rom without bootloader?

V7 -> root and unlock -> custom ICS rom or
V7 -> root -> don't mod anything, but enjoy ICS and root and pray you don't end up in the security error screen for freezing/removing something you shouldn't have.

You want V7 for the new radio, and if you're on a custom ICS rom, you're without bluetooth no matter what as all ICS roms are using the same kernel, even if you flash them while still on V6.

Also, no, you can not flash a rom once your boot loader is locked. It gives you the security error.

UPDATE: found a solution right after posting this: https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/786282

Having a problem w/ the stock email client - I have to connect to an exchange server for a work email. Always worked fine before, but after ics update the client appears to be functioning fine but the list of emails in any folder (like, say the INBOX) is just blank. I've seen other forums for other brands where this happened post-ICS and what fixed it was fiddling the font settings from w/in the app, but the Spectrum/Verizon version doesn't have an in-app font settings. I tried changing the system font to no effect - likewise various combinations of reboots and also wiping and re-adding the account. Any suggestions or ideas much appreciated.
LG-Spectrum - Verizon - stock ICS update

Bumping this back to the first page as more people are interested in taking the ICS update now that we have a functional CM10 build and the new radios in ICS are worth the update.

I'm trying to update to ICS with the kp 500 utils file and ICS cab. The LG Software Update tool comes up for me with a bunch of questing marks all over the window instead of text. Then at 30%, with the last line being "2- Emergency connect success", a popup window with a giant green circle and a question mark inside of it comes up. Only two options are "???" and "??", both of which close the window but do nothing. What am I missing here?

I haven't used the kp500 tool in a long time, but in doing a google search I see people with the same problem - the progress stopping at 30% and getting a pop up window. The issue is a communication problem, and unplugging then replugging the cable is whats recommended.

If that doesn't get it, you probably need to update the LG drivers.

What OS (XP, Vista, Win7, Win8) are you using and are you on 32 bit or 64 bit. This is a new error that I have not seen or heard of yet.

@sonicmerlin: I don't know if you are using an older computer, but I know when I was using the KP500 program on two XP computers the one with < 1GB of RAM kept failing on me where the one with 1.5GB of RAM works fine. Had the same issue as you with the two "???" options and both shut down the program. Not sure at what percentage it stopped for me but definitely 30% or under. And both were 32bit XP.

Install the LG Mobile Update tool.

Yay it worked. I installed the LG Mobile Update tool, used it to install a bunch of USB drivers, then for whatever reason the Verizon Update assistant finally worked.
