Read_Call function and exception list

Hello, I am creating an app for school project. Can anyone explain me( conceptually) how to create/save the list of numbers ( from the phonebook ) so that when someone from the list is calling, phone controls silent and ringing mode.

Now, can anyone help me with my problem. I am new in android programming and I do not know what can I do and what not.

So, let me provide you more details. I am creating an app which will put your phone in silent mode unless someone from the list in calling ( urgent phones ). So in order to do that, I need the function which will read the real-time call log and depending on who calls, phones rings or not. This should be very easy app, but as I said, I am a newbee.
