Help Reading data from an NTFS SD Card (HTC Desire)

Rizzu

Lurker
Good afternoon, this morning i attempted to copy a movie over to my SD Card on my HTC desire and came to the realization that a Fat32 SD Card has a file limit size of 4gb, and will not accept any files larger than that (even though it's a 16gb card). Long story short, i had converted my card from Fat32 to NTFS before checking to see if my phone would be able to read it (did not cross my mind!) and now, i am unable to access my SD Card. Instead of rummaging through every corner of the phone and market to see if there's anything that allows me to access the card, i thought i'd ask the experts.

When i plug my phone into my PC with the USB cord, the "connection type" screen pops up as it usually does, missing the "Disk Drive" option. It now only has...
Charge Only
HTC Sync (which is unable to work)
USB Tethering

I do have access to a card reader at home but i'll be at work for the next 8 hours. Does anyone happen to know if there's any way to access my SD card now that it's NTFS either by phone or USB to PC that does not involve formatting the card back to Fat32? I'd prefer to use that as a last resort option at this time. Any help is appreciated, thank you very much!

Maybe the phone's format option for the SD card?

Harry

Thanks for the reply, however the phones format option would also completely wipe my SD card. I'm mostly looking or a way to retrieve the data off the card at this time, then i have no reason to hesitate in formatting back to Fat32

Might sound like a daft response, but did you check to see whether, when connected by USB cable, your pc recognises your SD card as a drive & mounts it?
I know you said you don't get the option to choose to mount it from the phone, but it may still show up on pc?! I cant replicate your issue to check for myself, so it's just a random suggestion.

The phone first needs to mount the sd to pc for the pc to see it. Otherwise its mounted in android
