Reading .pdf files - Adobe is really terrible

I have a number of large files in .pdf that must be read from time to time. I have installed Adobe reader, and use Dropbox to get the files into my Eris (it's rooted, but that shouldn't matter).

Adobe reader is unreliable. :rolleyes:It often opens at Page 1, and when that happens I found no means for returning to my last viewed page. Also, Adobe provides three "viewing modes": Fit to Screen, Continuous, and Reflow Text. Not exactly intuitive, but only Fit to Screen has a slider that permits fast moving through the document, and only Reflow Text permits checking to see whether you're close to the last viewed page. Very, very annoying.

Is there another/better .pdf reader?

Is there a better way of using Adobe than "out of the box"?

THANKS!!

EzPDF Reader by Unidocs and Beam Reader both worked well for me on my rooted Eris.

Ez was my fave then. I think it was 99 cents in Market.

How big are these files? I have no problem using the Adobe reader app. I have my final exam schedule and a couple journal articles I used for research papers on there, and I can scroll through all of them no matter what view mode I am in or where I am in the document.

They're 500k or more.
When you go to Adobe to open a file, does it consistently remember where you were last reading? My instance of it doesn't - it's 50-50, and when it opens to P1 I have to search. PITA.

I'm about to install recommended alternatives...

It's little things like this that make androidforums so valuable. Perhaps I could have solved this with google, but it's so tiny a problem that the search would have taken a long, long time.

Fixed. One day. More than one solution. I'm delighted.

EZ is terrific - best buck I've spent in months.

THANKS!

No, it doesn't remember where I last was, but I always close out the app when I'm done with it. And the articles I have and schedule are about 100-200k, so I can't say its different with mine. I'm glad you got it working though!
