Help Ready to reboot with GB

Newbie
Have latest ruu file loaded, changed name to pgo5img.zip, ready to reboot. Is it really this easy? I'm not rooted and not super knowledgeable on all of this. Are there any pitfalls from this point? I don't want this to brick my phone, anybody have any input? Before I make the leap I want to be sure.
 
the file name should be PG05IMG.zip

I am not sure if it matters what case the letters are but the "o" you have should be a "0" (zero). Make sure it is on the root of the SD card, power off and hold volume down while powering back on then you will be walked thru everything else by the phone, yes it really is that easy
 
The root of your SD card is not in any folders, so if it is in the "Download" folder then move it out of there otherwise hboot will not see the file and you will not be prompted to update.
 
Use a file explorer and navigate to the folder it is in, you should then cut it and paste it to the correct area. If you are using a file explorer on the phone then long press on it then choose edit move or just move depending on the app you are using
 
You should be on a white screen with little androids skateboarding at the bottom, if so it should scan your SD then prompt you to update you press volume up to update then once it is done it will prompt you to press power to reboot do so and you should be done. If it scans the SD and doesn't prompt you to scan you need to reboot and make sure the file is named properly and in the right spot
 
It does not promt. Loads something and just sits there. It is named PG05IMG.zip. it is by itself and named in main directory. Also my connection is now 1x or nothing.
 
If it didn't prompt you to update it didn't change anything. If you transferred it from your PC you may want to make sure it isn't named PG05IMG.zip.zip some windows machines like to add extra extensions to files
 
Maybe I downloaded the wrong link? I downloaded from net to phone. Can only download lower of 2 links from what I could find on search. Do you have the correct link?
 
No I don't have a link to the RUU off hand. If hboot didn't prompt you to update then the file is either named incorrectly or in the wrong place that is the only reason it wouldn't prompt you to update. Did you check the path to the RUU on the SD to make sure it is in the right place it should be sdcard/PG05IMG.zip if there are any directories between the sdcard/ and the PG05IMG.zip file it will not be seen
 
Awsome! I found the full ruu downloaded it and it worked! I'm on 2.3.4 now. If not for you saying somthing I would not be here right now. Very happy it worked!!!! Awsome. Now I have an eq!!!
