Help Real Life battery life

Hi
I am considering moving from HTC Desire HD to Samsung GS2. Was waiting for the Sensation to be released by I think the Samsung looks a better phone.

What kind of battery life are owners getting?

And do you really think this device will be a better bet than the HTC?

thanks

P

On light usage i'm ending the day with ~60/70%, thats a few texts, emails, wifi on all day, and moving around town so both the wifi and cell signal strengths vary.
The new battery usage screen is awesome though, graph of battery level at the top with high usage across the bottom (phone signal/gps/awake/screen on/wifi/charging.)
This screen starts from the point where your phone is unplugged after achieving 100% battery.

I was having problems at the start but found out that waste on the battery was because of the live wallpaper I had set. Since replacing this the battery is very good, compared to the iphone4 I had briefly before getting the s2. I browse the web at work on the phone a lot during the day, and listen to music on my way to work, and yesterday the battery was 58% when I got home after charging it yesterday morning.

impressive - my DHD is dead by 9pm!

Think may jump to Samsung - looks good and the reviews are awesome.

what are your settings and apps that you are using? with syncing off, wifi off, gps off, bluetooth off, e-mail push notifications on, twitter and facebook updates manually (barely use them) my day ends at 12%...

Wow, i've got everything on, plus a live wallpaper, you must use yours more during the day than me thas all.
post a screenshot of your battery usage at the end of the day?
I'll do one for mine next time i have a whole day without playing games or plugging it in.

I am a very heavy user. I used to nave a HTC Desire but could not use any apps as if I did the phone would not last the day. My s2 can easily handle my calls and now I can also use apps and see what I was missing.

Here is my one from yesterday:

Lol on Twitpic

as you said, heavy user, were you talking on the phone or playing games for the two big drops? I'm guessing games since your screen was on for most of it.
Thing is, as i've mentioned before, with the power in this phone, people shouldnt compare it to other phones for battery life, compare it to a laptop instead. If you are sitting playing games on your laptop you expect it to last a few hours, if its in standby, for ages. Same goes for modern phones, if they are in active use 3-4 hours, standby days.

yeah i get that. However, without using my phone, in 1h my battery is down at 90%...

depends on how strong your phone signal is really, mines been on battery for 1h29m44s and is on 96% and thats with the wifi on continuously, (wifi uses less battery when its got signal than 3g does, it only kills your battery when its using 3g but still hunting for a wifi signal)

Sorry to thread highjack, I'm a noob to this phone (only got it yesterday) How can you display battery usage? Had a quick look through the apps and can not see it?

settings > about phone > battery usage this gives you the graph
settings > about phone > status gives you the accurate battery %
