What do people think of the call quality? Both on your end (making call with the cell phone), as well as people on the other end (receiving call from you).

I'd also be interested in call quality over bluetooth.

Seems perfectly fine if a little quiet considering the volume of music via the speakers. Actually...does that stack? No - that would be via speakerphone. I dunno - seems fine.

Speaking of stack I haven't tried Bluetooth calls I'm afraid.

Just ran the battery down fully - 14 hours of moderate to heavy use (tapatalk and whatsapp periodically through the day). Power saver off. Will try a day on power save.
 
I've had the phone for a month now and i can honestly say it is still blowing me away. This is just a mini 'update-ette' based on my period of ownership so far.

Still no scratches, gaps, scuffs, dings, dents or marks, but I have put a screen protector on and an XtremeGuard rear protector film on the phone. I don't baby the phone but neither do I throw it about. It occasionally goes in a pocket with loose change or keys and i've dropped it once. After all that it hs no marks on it and I am very pleased indeed.

The battery life is holding steady at about three days of light to moderate use or, more usually, two days of moderate to heavy use, which is absolutely phenomenal. I really can't fault HTCs power management. I'd love to find a Tasker method of turning on the inbuilt power saving toggle overnight but I have yet to find a way (I know I can set up Tasker profiles but i've found that Tasker is a bit flaky if you ask it to do too much).

I'm fed up with Blinkfeed and only having three four rows on the main screen (as I posted in my last review) so i'm still using Nova Prime. In the last two weeks, the phone has stayed rock solid stable without any hiccups at all. It's blisteringly fast and I just can't put it down. I[ve got used to the size (step up in size from my iPhone 5) and it's just about perfect I think. Any bigger and I would dislike it.

I use Quickpic as a Gallery app as I dislike Facebook and the way it 'seamlessly' integrates into your photo album, whether you like it or not.

I'm now getting itchy fingers over rooting the phone and toying with the idea of unlocking the bootloader and installing the Android Revolution ROM. Not that the phone is even remotely bad with the current Stock ROM; in fact, it's awesome but I need to do more research though as if I can find a ROM that removes all the Facebook integration from the phone in its entirety, gives me a Tasker toggle for Power Saving, removes the necessity for Blinkfeed, allows the battery percentage on the status bar and give me five rows of icons on my homescreens without installing a launcher then I would go with that if it also had great battery life and was stable. I'm in no rush though as the phone performs admirably in the extreme as it is.

To all my American friends getting their shiny new Ones now, I hope you love the phone and it blows you away as much as it has me. My thoughts on this phenomenal device are well documented on here should you be interested to read what I and more established and respected members think on the various aspects of the device in more detail, such as in the battery life thread and the camera thread.
 
Scoot... I gotta say, you are one of my primary motivations for wanting this phone. I appreciate your ongoing reports.

However.... I have to say that I was pretty disappointed when I went to Best Buy today to talk deals...... I had my mind set on the silver phone, but they had an all black one on display. That phone looks awesome. Nothing like what you see in pictures. As it has been said before, you have to hold this phone and see it in person to really appreciate it. Even though they had this huge lock mechanism on the back of the phone, I was still able to gain an appreciation for the feel of this phone.

So now the bad news. As you can imagine, I examined this phone very thoroughly. I did find a problem with the build quality. Sorry to all those that have been so ready for uber build quality. I found that the speaker grill was delaminating from the main body in the upper right hand corner. Sorry Best Buy, but I had to explore how bad the delamination was. I stuck my fingernail in the gap between the grill and main phone body and I was able to pry the grill up quite a bit - with just my fingernail. :mad: I was disappointed to say the least. I had horror flashbacks to my three delaminating EVO screens.

Maybe it is different in your Best Buy but all the ones I go to use Dummy Phones for display. They are the same size but significantly less in the quality department and no real internals. They are always pretty beat up after a few days too. Was it a real phone or a dummy?
 
Sick - it sure seemed like a real phone. Typical Best Buy... nobody came up to help so I just spent time with the phone, myself. It was one heck of a dummy phone if it was not real. It had all the details right down to the polycarbonate on the sides and such. Tomorrow, I am heading down to the local Sprint store. They have a stack of them ready for sale - all silver, though. BB had no news on when that beauty of a black one would be available. :rolleyes:

Did it turn on? I would bet at least 100 Quatloos that it was a dummy phone. Again they are built to be as close to the real thing as possible but on the cheap and no working internals. Having said that I did see a drop test from 6 feet online where that particular piece broke off so anything is possible.

Pretty sure it was linked here in ONEDERLAND somewhere.

I bought a clear case before I saw that video & was gonna use it @ work only,but afterwards,I think I may reconsider & use it full-time.

lol.... Sik, I love the Star Trek reference. That takes me back... In fact that is one of my favorite episodes.

I am beginning to see what you mean about the dummy phone. It did not turn on, but had a static image of blinkfeed. I kept playing with the suface trying to figure out how they got the image to do that. It looked real, but you could make no changes to the screen nor could you turn it on or off. I thought it had to be a sticker on the front of the glass, but it was not. I guess I should have pulled that delaminating part all the way off to see if there was a speaker below. The lack of attention from any of the BB staff ... well they never would have noticed. :rolleyes:
 
I'm really glad I could help you, Toolwarrior I firmly believe forums like this are a place to share experiences and a love of certain devices so will alwys do what I can to give my opinions based on real world usage. For the most part, if I have never used a device, I will not offer an in-depth opinion on it.

I would bet you a GI Joe to a damned if I know that it was a dummy model you picked up in BB. I've seen a dummy model exactly like you describe with the static picture on it and compared it against my phone at a Vodafone store when I went in to enquire about cases and yes the build quality of the dummy version was nowhere near like the real thing in my other hand.

It sounds like you are doing the right thing though and finding a store with real phones to check instead.
 
Almost 24 hours with this phone....
Battery life is very good.. which I know is an issue for some.
Also note.. I am using it on LTE.
I charged it fully and used it during my night shift streaming pretty much all night on LTE and after 6 hours of that I was still at 70%
Total time with my moderate usage so far seems to be about 10 hours.

Coming from the Nexus 4 the battery life is way better and LTE does not seem to drag it down at all.

Build quality is phenomenal.
My wife is even trying to nick my phone :D
Screen ... No words for this it's just fantastic.

The things that bug me... the offset home button is making me a little nuts.
You cannot use the back key to close the app drawer like on the 15 past Android devices I have / had... WHY HTC.......

The lockscreen control placement is awkward for me.
The NFC logo being there when NFC is on is annoying....

There are a few other little things that nag me but that's pretty much it.
I think HTC hit one out of the park here. (no pun intended :P)
 
Just got my newest daily driver and right off the bat the things I like most:
the device came with earbuds with a mic and remote that sound pretty damn good for some stock HTC earbuds. The device has Beats audio on it that really sets off the sound in a warm way without over doing the bass. Google Music and the stock music sound absolutely amazing in my car with no tweaks. I haven
 
I went to BestBuy today to see the One in person. From the pictures I saw I expected it to be larger than the LTEvo, its pretty much the same size. The OS is really fast, no stutter, really smoothe screen transitions.

The screen is really amazing, very crisp, and the thing looks great even with the brightness turned down. Amazing HTC improved the screen that much over the LTEvo.

The phone doesn't feel like its metal, it feels like its plastic. I know its metal, maybe its the coating, or the fact its so light. I felt the same way when I got the LTE, so I wasn't suprised. :p

I noticed the back arrow doesn't back you out of apps anymore. You need to use the home button, which in previous sense versions will stack up apps in your recent apps cue. I didn't have enough time with the phone to see if that will cause any jam ups or not. I'd assume HTC did this on purpose and has a way for sense to deal with the que.

Since I was using a floor model I didn't get the time to really explore the device like I want to. Maybe I'll test drive it soon, got an upgrade waiting on one of my family lines. ;)
 
I've noticed that after extended use (usually of games), my previous phone (Evo 4G) as well as my recent phone (Evo 4G LTE) have gotten pretty hot, almost uncomfortably so. This made me wonder, would the metal body of the One get this hot as well, and possibly even burn you? Or at least make the phone difficult to hold? Or is it designed in a way that it stays cool?

Aluminum is a good thermal transmitter, so it's doing its job getting the heat out from the inside. If it gets hot enough to burn you, something is seriously wrong with the phone.

Newer games are really hardware and power intensive, so they create a lot of heat. Phones don't have fans to disipate the heat so they rely on transfer through the case.

^^^This. Plus check out my review, which I linked a couple posts ago and you'll see MY experience in regards to the heat. Obviously it can vary though.
 
Just an amendment to my little blurb about the phone...

The "TV" app (remote control) is a total slam dunk!
This thing is not only easy to set up but it's already replaced my remote.

I have U-Verse, and once I told it what channels I had and it did its very simple tv and box setup away I went.

One issue:
I have a XanTech DL85K IR extender because our set is on the wall and the U-Verse box, Blu-Ray player and other things are in the closet.
Sometimes the IR from the phone does not get relayed thru correctly and it ends up punching the wrong channel in.
I just select it again and it works the second time.

You guys have GOT to try this remote!
 
Ok so I came from HTV Evo 4G>HTC Evo 3D>iPhone 5>Samsung Note 2>HTC One

I'm on Sprint.

I loved the first two phones but they were slower than dirt. i've always hated iphones but I thought i'd give the 5 a try. i returned it after 10 days and got the Note 2. That phone was way too much like an iPhone so i sold it and just received the HTC one today. This phone sucks.

Why would they ditch the wonderfully functional 4 hard buttons at the bottom of the phone?

Basically, i just want my Evo 4g or 3D back but just be faster. And have a fast camera. Gawd the camera on my 3D was terrible. 5 second shutter reset etc...

Anyway, first out of the gate, i can't just press hard button menu>settings to jump to settings real quick. so annyoing. i have to swipe over to apps, scroll down to settings, to enter settings.

i have not figured out a way to organize the app list in a list instead of a grid. for whatever reason i have a difficult time reading through the apps in a grid. I don't like the icons, I just want the name of the app in an alphabetical list.

The back button which on my older HTC devices was on the right side. now it's on the left and is really small it's hard to hit.

The top swipe down tray is basically useless. Most android users are offered a wealth of options in the swipe down tray. really pissed about that.

Amazon appstore doesn't work. the stock keyboard is dog poop so i'm just trying to get into amazon appstore to get Swiftkey 4 which i've already paid for.

I'm tired after a long day of work so hopefully in the morning i will feel less frustrated but so far I hate this phone. I just want my old school goodness with a fast camera and fast operations. i would still be rocking my 3D but i botched the digitizer replacement. grrrrrrrrrr

If you swipe down, and look up at the top right corner, there is a settings "gear". Click it and it will take you straight to settings.
 
K, got the appstore fix. Thanks for the tip of the gear in the menu. i overlooked it, but one would have to agree it's just way easier to have all the usefull widgets (wifi, bt, etc) in the dropdown tray.

now i'm annoyed that the power button is on the top left corner instead of the top right. why HTC? my last two HTC phones had it on the top right. now it's a reach to actually hit it and totally unnatural if using your right hand.

the back and home hard buttons i'm finding also take multiple attempts sometimes to hit it right. the touch zone for those buttons is too small

With the outstanding overall quality of the device, I'm willing to overlook a few things myself.
My last 4 years have been on iPhones so the transition was pretty easy for me. (i'm not use to other android phones)
