Root realllllly annoyed with clockworkmod....

today i rooted my fascinate. i went to put a ROM on it and got an error. after some research i found that when they upgraded to 3.0.0.8 they removed the ability to load roms using "amend" code, which ALMOST ALL THE CURRENT ROMS USE!
i understand that google no longer uses this, in favor of edify, but why remove the ability? from what i understand pretty much none of the roms using edify are fully up and running, most still have many non-working features. seems like a dumb move, and i'm seeing tons of bad publicity they are getting on various forums because of it. it wouldn't be a big deal if i could easily just downgrade to the previous version, but it's becoming a real headache. i'm not the most savvy person when it comes to rooting, i was able to root and install clockworkmod with relative ease, but i have no idea how to "just download the zip, rename it to PB31IMG, and copy to your SD card then flash using Hboot" ..... it wont let me downgrade within the ROM Manager app, i keep getting an error message.

how do i "flash using HBOOT"? any other fixes for this? what are you guys installing/running ROMs with?

cool that was easy enough the first time, but do i have to uninstall the current version somehow, or do i just do the same thing as the first time (hit "PDA", select the .tar file, and then click "start", all while the phone is at the download screen)

Just "PDA" on top of the other one.

(hit "PDA", select the .tar file, and then click "start", all while the phone is at the download screen) - yes

awesome, thanks! i ended up finding a ROM that works with the current version that doesn't seem too bad so far. I'm gonna try to stick with it till the devs fully make the switch to edify.

thanks for the help!
