REALLY Can I be the FIRST? KitKat update?

it was more likely a Verizon firmware update, not an actual Android upgrade. my S3 did this and i thought it went to 4.2.2 because it ran 4.1 originally, was a bit disappointed since it still showed version 4.1.2, the out-of-box version. it, too was a large update. it is specifically for the bloatware or touchwiz i think.

When or if your device gets an actual Android upgrade, the icon up top will look like a tablet/phone with an 'exclamation mark' inside the icon. pulling it down will say 'Android upgrade available'

I admit that I saw the title and thought "unlikely, but you never know".

Then I saw "Verizon" and thought "was it delivered by a unicorn on the back of a flying pig?". Hell freezing over(*) seems much more plausible than VZW being first with an Android update! :D

(*) I know, Dante pictured the innermost circle as frozen rather than hot.

I'm reading so many rumors and so many fake screencaps labeled 'leaks'. but not sure which is true. some say that KitKat is going to be a dramatic overhaul of the UI (Google Now cards for a launcher/lockscreen) others say it takes after iOS 7, and yet more claim it's just an incremental update with nothing we'd notice, much like 4.3 but carrying a different moniker. either way i'll wait.

Launcher will look the same as current 4.3 except for a transparent nav bar and status bar. Image of Nexus 5 was put on Google Play device purchasing site for about 45 minutes Thursday night after all (saw it with my own eyes).

Nexus devices are ALWAYS the first devices to get new OS updates. A manufacturer skinned/carrier phone will never beat a Nexus device for getting Android OS updates.

Since this is about the Verizon S4 update, I'm moving this to the S4 general forum.
