Root Reasons not to root?

I only want app2sd because the app space restriction is killing my sanity and Froyo could be up to 7 months away for the HTC Desire. What are the reasons not to root? Potential bricking? Voiding warranty? Security?

also apps2sd doesn't work all that well for a lot of users, but you could be lucky.

Well that's the only real reason I want to root, I'm just sick of the low memory warnings. Looks like I will have to wait for HTC to get their act together.
