I have one phone here that has received the update, and one that hasn't.
Why in the world a company would willingly want to shoot themselves in the foot like that, I have no idea. What a screwed up mess.

Sorry, I don't understand where Google falls into that process and I can't find anything that states that Google would be responsible, nor would I expect to.
While I admit, I could be wrong, I once again am going to reiterate not to listen to tech support for anything except what they specialize in. Employees are notoriously left in the dark.

If you read this link you'll see that all of the checkin services whether it's a crash report or an ota availability go directly to HTC url's, Google has absolutely nothing to do with it. http://androidsecuritytest.com/feat...y/ports-and-agents/upload-agents/htc-checkin/

Checked for the update today and sure enough it was there. Then went to check with my brothers phone and he got the update as well.
All I know is what I was told. The *#*#checkin#*#* procedure is for connectivity to google servers. Why HTC would have their escalation employees telling us stories is beyond me, but that was his claim...that the update resides on google servers and they manage the rollout process.

so... everyone here who's been waiting for the update finally got it? How's the phone so far?
I got the update new years day....as for the change? i came here looking for that info. whatever change there is would be deep inside. if your expecting jelly bean you'll be sad.
I'm glad it updated and didn't brick...lol
Once started I think it was three reboots....just let it run its course.
My wifes phone 3 digits away from mine is still waiting for the push, seems very random. idk

the update brings a major improvement. Have not received a single error message while texting. i applied the update manually.

Just received and installed the update (I got my phone slightly after Black Friday.) I got the error message a couple of times while texting last week, but otherwise, everything had gone through just fine.
like a normal phone now. No more radio interface shortage errors via SMS. No more missed calls. You can actually dial out now too. What this phone needed 6 months ago

Update did not help me one bit! My phones are still in transient :smokingsomb: j/k of course.
Good to hear you all got the goods now, or should in short order. I'm glad the updates are back and working for me too, so I can go back to plan A and keep my wife's phone stock and root mine for fun. I thought I would need to root both just to make them work.
I can understand there is some apprehension among those who haven't rooted their phones, but there is a lot of satisfaction and entertainment in spinning up a new and different free OS and playing around with new stuff. The awesome documentation here gives you the opportunity to do this without destroying the family computer and the steps seem to allow you to step back and not have a chance of ending up with the dreaded $160 brick/door stop.
Keep in mind while your mad at Virgin, HTC and the like, with your phone that costs way less than an early HUGE junky Nokia did back in the day, you are getting a complete computer system that exceeds yesteryears top end PC's, better CPU, more memory and back then unavailable or very expensive things like a 3D camcorder and monitor, not to mention a touch screen. The software is free or very inexpensive. This is a very complex and inexpensive device. It's amazing it's existential and functional. M$ sells new OS's for 3x the phone price full of bugs... I deal with it every day.
Thanks to all the gurus who have contributed their knowledge and thanks to even the newbiest of noobs who have contributed by asking questions, seeking help and reporting what has worked.
I've been able to find almost all the info I need so far by searching and reading FAQs and stickies. This is really a great community and friendly too!

I did some quick testing after receiving the update. I was able to re-create a situation where texts did not go through and I'd receive either the radio interface resource shortage message or "general errors," as before. But the problem cleared itself within a minute and was back to texting OK again. So this is a big improvement. Obviously it's not ideal, but since I'm in a low signal area and an obstructive building, it may not be much different than any other phone now. Before, it was pretty much a brick indoors much of the time. No doubt the radio fix changes things.

With the OTA update instead of the manual flash through the bootloader, do you experience signal fluctuations and the data going from 3G to 1x frequently?

Bought my phone on Black Friday and activated the next week. Update notification just played today. I will update later today on a local network and see how it goes.

They both accomplish the same thing, the files for the radio are identical the only other thing in the ota are some small framework mods that are now included in most roms.
Hi Friends, I Bought my HTC Evo V 4G on cyber monday. I unlocked it with hct dev and after flashing two different recovery files y flashed the stock recovery that is in the update file that Prinny posted on this page http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/648747-update.html , thanks Prinny.
Some people are asking for the stock recovery, it is on the firmware.zip file of the update, simply extract it from the file posted by Prinny.

With my phone unlocked and with stock recovery I updated to 1.14.652.0 710RD
Checking manually the update notification just shows today. I updated with no problem and notice a more stable 3G signal.

.. that's what i assume HTC did. BTW, I rooted s-off months ago and fixed the radio problem.. this phone is an excellent phone for $300 bux... $150.. is like stealling.

They're still pushing the update. I got my phone on Jan. 3rd brand new and I just received the update notification automatically the other day. If you are on stock, just wait for it and it will come eventually or you can just go to software update and hit on "HTC software update" to pull it from the server.
