Recent changes to forum.

I notice that a lot of members have strange little user titles now, like "where is the search" and "what is root" and "android rocks"

is this a mod on vb.org? If so, which one? Kinda neat
 
cant you go in to the admin panel and set the user titles according to the number of posts they have. im guessing he is making custom usernames a vip addon
 
Yeah through promotions you can, its just they were awful snazzy, and have links in them, if it was done that way...

Kudos to whoever did them.
 
Yeah, we did those today. Several have links in them to various places. I won't give them all away though, that's less fun. ;)

Nah just manually edited standard user titles.
 
I agree. The user titles are dumb. For the record, I was against them. Phases loved them. I let him have his way. Total lameness occurs.

Phases lets talk and get something normal/boring set up. Boring and logical totally crushes corny and pointless. Pummels it into mother earth actually.

I thought the Titles were going to be changed back in late February(?).. I don't Root, won't Root and don't want to advertise Rooting in my profile.. yet, it's there. Kinda like Facebook handing out personal information, but at least they have a setting to edit content. ;)
 
Eh, we'll get to it. We keep meaning to and then far more pressing stuff keeps coming along.

I guess it'd be quick and easy to go back to default.

I actually liked the defaults.. it should be just a quick change in the Admin CP.

Yeah anyway it's the updating of the counters.. to update the titles on over 100k users.. that's intensive. As fragile as the forums feel right now I hate to do it.. lol. Usually we do these things overnight. Which is what I'll probably do.
 
I actually really like the way the titles work now. Sure there are a few that should probably go and maybe some others that could be added (Update what phone you have :)) but having new users pointed to the introduction forum and things like that, very clever I thought.

Oh yes, I forgot about that... Yeah probably the easiest thing to do would be to close the forums for maintenance and update the counters in the wee hours of the night.

It looks like you've already started updating the titles. I'm seeing a lot of Member, Junior Member, and Senior Member tiles. Also some who have the other titles..

These are reasons some of us don't want to PAY to to become Premium Members, there was time to ask for money.. but not maintain general user stats?:rolleyes:

Just sayin'... maybe motivation comes from my pocket.

Huh? I'm confused. ...oh I think I get you.

- It took us six months to actually get the premium thing going. Then once we started, it took weeks to get ready to announce. We didn't just drop everything and up and do it with dollar signs in our eyes.

- As I just said, as intensive as it is, we do these things at night. It's a click of a button. But takes awhile and slows the site to a crawl.

(We also didn't have other rather serious issues we were trying to deal with. But, hey, thanks for the feedback!)

Edit: Just sayin'... you clearly have a misunderstanding of what goes on around here, and how much effort goes into maintaining things. For the general users.
