Since about mid August there have been many people having problems with their yahoo contacts syncing with the phone and the HTC people app or not receiving the yahoo email via POP, etc
Yahoo email via IMAP (much better option if you ask me) was not effected.
I spent ages trying to find a solution to no avail until today.
There has been a new version of the yahoo mail app sitting on the Android Market for about a month or so. If most people are like me they didn't bother updating to it especially with some of the bad reviews.
It seems that Yahoo decided to take some premptive action to force people to update by not sending any contact data or email data to anyone who hasn't upgraded.
To fix the issue, simply upgrade the app even if you dont use it. Then everything will work fine again.
