Recent update and burning MB?

Hi all,

I am with Orange and applied the recent system software update, all seems fine but now I am burning over 20mb a day from my data allowance, that's with little or no web browsing, is anyone else having this problem, can I tell how or why this amount is being used?

Get the free app 'network usage', there are probably others that do the same.
This breaks down what apps have sent/received what, & also tells you which apps are active/inactive.

I would check your sync settings to check whether anything is amiss. When i applied the recent update, it reset my sync settings and I was syncing pretty much everything (not what i want) so I had to go back in there and give them a tweak.

Have installed network usage today, thanks the the advice, will feed back once I have more details.

On the bright side orange gave me another 500mb free of charge, for all of next month and pro rata this month there's a first.... :-)

3G watchdog is a very handy app as well. It tracks your data usage (in total, not on an app by app basis) and stops you going over the limit accidentally. It can disable your mobile internet connection when you go over a specified % of your allowance, as well as sticking your currently used % that month in the notification bar.

It's not for use to diagnose a problem like network usage is, but it's a useful app to leave running all the time for peice of mind.
