Reception/Network issue

Hi

I used to have a Wildfire on Talkmobile (Vodaphone) - as this was up for contract renewal, I decided a few days ago to get a Desire X - love the phone but since swapping my original sim card (and same number) to the Desire X, I am having significant reception issues - indoors the signal strength often for long periods (can be hour or two) drops to no/zero bars and if you try to use the phone it says "out of service area" - outdoors the reception is better but still inconsistent and it dropped a call today whilst outside. I was advised to do a hard reset of the phone but this made no difference. I was also advised to try a non talkmobile sim card in the Desire X, so I tried a virgin one indoors - although it did not give full strength, it did give a constant 2-3 bars. I also tried using the talkmobile sim card back in my wildfire indoors, again it was better in the wildfire. It seems that the Desire X and my talkmobile sim card do not seem to be getting the best out of each other. Customer services have noted this and I may have to take the phone back to CPW. My wife also updated her Samsung phone to a later Samsung phone at the same time - although her reception also seems patchy on the new phone, it works even if the signal strength shows no/zero bars! Perhaps the newer phones are more power hungry reception wise ? Advice appreciated

Radios and the antennas vary in ability to reach out from phone to phone. Your new X might just be inferior to your old phone in that regard. You might return the phone and request a new sim. Letting them know you are not getting the coverage you once enjoyed. Best of luck to you.
