Reception

I live in a rural part of TN (was that a banjo?) and signal is usually pretty good. We have our dead spots that everyone is familiar with. I do notice that I usually only get 1 or 2 bars at my house(my wifes enV3 usually has 3 or 4). Sometimes if I hold my jaw a certain way and put all my change in my left pocket and stand on one leg I can get three bars. But in town I get full signal everywhere. I think the radio is just a little on the weak side and has trouble holding on to a signal when close to the fringe of service.

I agree with everything you say. I've experienced the same when comparing my Eris to friends enV.

I get 0 bars at home a lot, but never dropped a call yet on my eris. So far the eris's call quality is better than my storm.

How's your battery when you have 0 bars? Do you leave mobile network on?

I was in the basement floor of a large hospital today and despite no bars at all I had a prolongued phone conversation and several texts back and forth between people.

I am not sure whether to attribute that to the Droid Eris, Verizon or both.. but I have never seen anything like that with any device I've had before. With my Blackberry 8330 on Alltel (now Verizon as everone knows) I always had to go up at least on floor to use the device: no bars meant no calls or texts.

i have been dropping calls lately with my phone. My other household has verizon and they get perfect service.

If you have weak cellular reception, what about switching to wifi if you have a wireless router in your home?

Thanks,
Roger

My phone dropps calls a lot at work. My q never did. Maybe ill get this phone checked out. Its pretty bad.

I'm really sorry to see that being posted around here. I really thought this device had something about it that caused it to be better at processing weak signal, etc.

As I've posted, I can text and make calls in places that my Blackberry 8330 and Samsung Instinct just could not do that.. I know all those places well. But this Eris has no problem, not a broken word during calls, not a lost call or text, etc. People call me and I call them from those bad places.

Maybe I got a good one? If that's so, it bothers me that quality control might be the issue.
