I have rooted my phone and have try Leedroid and Oxygen, both are really nice but I was wondering whats the nicest looking rom and I don't like sense that much but Leedroid was the most common one I see around and seem idiot proof which it was so easy to install same with Oxygen, I personally want a nice looking rom, I would like as basic rom with the market installed already.

Any idea's would be great.

Im using GingerVillian..pretty much satisfied. It has market installed, also can upgrade to latest version through setup

There are 5 main rom types

Desire sense based roms (leedroid, Auraxtsense etc)
Desire HD ports (new sense) (RicMXCHD, Insertcoin etc)
AOSP 2.2 (defrost, CM6 etc)
AOSP 2.2 (Miui)
AOSP 2.3 (Oxygen, Gingervillain, CM7)

If you're interested in the looks of the thing then to me there are elements of the MIUI roms that look stunning. Sometimes a bit too iPhone-like but has certainly made things different from the norm. Also, any rom that has a few themes built for it or works with the UOT kitchen can be made to look pretty much how you want.

Miui users should just own up and by an iPhone. Its a very nice rom, its just real boring.

BORING??? How? its the best rom out there by far! :D I wouldnt buy an iphone for a good reason! Apple are a total control freaks I hate how you cant customise iphone the way I can on android phone!

I hated that battery. Infact I thought the entire notification bar on MIUI was terrible! So I went into the kitchen and made a custom HD notification bar with a circle battery mod. It looks sweeeeeet now!

So, ignoring all Sense based ROMs (all using Android 2.2) and MIUI ROMs (again Android 2.2) is there any reason to go for AOSP 2.2 ROMs when there are AOSP 2.3 ROMs?

Not much any more - at least some of the 2.3 ROMs are pretty stable now (I don't say "all" because I've not tried all of them). It may be that there's some specific app that's essential to you which isn't 2.3 compatible yet, but that's the only real reason I can see (there aren't many that I know of, but one or two navigation apps were not playing ball last I heard).
