Root Recommendations for replacement ROMS please

I purchased a used Optimus T last week that had been factory rest. I was able to easily root it using z4root and I then installed setCPU to overclock it. Being a novice, I assumed that would work, but setCPU cannot gain access to the processor speed above the stock 600Mhz. So, I am assuming I will need to replace the stock ROM first which is probably blocking access. The kernal is Linux 2.6.32.9 from lg-electronics. all other software is up to date per a check prior to rooting.

I would appreciate recoomendations from people that have done that on this phone. I am looking for a reliable ROM that is efficient with the least amount of problems with installed typical android apps. Thanks for your help

Oops just noticed the date!! What ROM did you choose to use? How do you like it?

I like devoid/Franco and the openOptimus ROMs. As always, I would read the threads and confirm that everyone is happy with the latest release. As an example, I know the current openOptimus has known problems when installed with AmonRa recovery versus ClockworkMod recovery.

Since you mentioned you are just starting in this area, make sure you do a Nand backup. I would also use Titanium Backup. It has a free and a paid version. Try the free and if you like it consider buying. The paid version has batch processes.

If you need T-mobile wifi calling, you could keep your stock ROM and flash a Franco kernel. It might work. Franco does not offer support for people who use his kernel on a ROMs other than his own.

Good Luck!

PS NAND = system snapshop/ backup and restore ROM programs and data. Titanium is useful in backing up/restoring your apps and data. Since you generally wipe out your programs and data every-time you try a new ROM a backup program saves a lot of time.

PPS openOptimus is setup to automatically store all applications on the SD card. Do not manually try to send apps to the SD.
