Help Recovering SD Card

Hey everyone,

I broke my Droid X a couple of weeks ago while trying to replace the digitizer. Stupidly, I didn't backup my data before doing so, but the micro SD card is completely fine. I have pictures on the card that I would like to have, so I bought a micro SD card reader. However, the micro SD card reader wants to format the card, thus erasing all the information on it.

Does anyone know of a way to pull the information off the micro SD card? I tried putting the card in my Galaxy Nexus, but being it wasn't the right size, didn't work.

Any ideas?

Not sure if this would work for you, but it might be a 'work-around'....

You could borrow a friend's Droid X, put your SD card into it, and manually attached files to e-mail using the phone, and e-mail the pictures and files to yourself.

Before I get blasted by someone....I know that sounds like a very tedious process, but I am sure that it would work as a 'all else fails work-around'

Yeah, I thought about that. Problem is I just moved to a new city and don't really know anyone outside of work. Inside of work, however, I do know someone that has a Droid Incredible 1 that may be able to implement the same strategy. Although I would transfer to my desktop via USB instead of email, though.

I just can't believe a micro SD card reader won't read the card without wiping everything on it first. Seems completely counter intuitive of ever getting one in the first place. Do people format their cards with the reader before they put their card in their phone? This whole thing is madness! I'm sure there's a quick and easy solution with the tools I have now, I'm just now sure what it is yet.

Sounds very odd. When I put my micro sd card into reader, then put in pc, I get a choice to view files...

You said phone was broken...does it turn on at all? Can you put card in phone and connect to pc? Pc should see it as a device, and you may be able to see card from there.

I took the phone apart to replace the digitizer, and while doing so, damaged the phone to the point it isn't possible to reassemble. I ripped a couple ribbon connectors, and removed heatsinks. Of course, I didn't think they were problems at the time, but now the phone is basically useless. So no, I cannot turn the phone on nor will my desktop recognize it as a removable device (tried connecting while it was in pieces, lol).

Therefore, my simple solution was just to get an SD card reader, but that has failed.
