Root Recovery Mode and Firmware 2.1-update1

I seem to be having problems getting access into recovery mode.
It's a brand new Captivate and it came preloaded with Firmware 2.1-update1

I tried variations on this, but from everything I've heard, this should work just fine:
Hold both volume buttons while powering on and keep holding the power button 3 seconds after the ATT logo appears (before it power cycles itself).

Nothing triggers, and it just boots up normally.


I've also tried the "One Click Root/UnRoot" method, with no luck.

Has ATT gotta more aggressive with locking us out?

I am having the same issues here as well. Please respond, somebody! I just bought the phone today.

u cant even do the one click root? that doesnt require u to be in download mode/recovery mode.... i for one have had my captivate for 2 weeks and cant do the 3 button combo as well... but doing the one click root should work for u....

Return the phone for one that has the button combo recovery before you start modding the phone or you risk bricking an unbrickable phone. Dowload and install SDK and use adb for now at least then you could get root.
