Root Recovery Mode

Is there something wrong with the captivate's recovery mode?
I hold volume up/down/power and it will keep rebooting the ATT screen over and over again. I also read that if you let go of the power right after the ATT screen comes back, it will bring you to recovery mode. No matter what I do, I cannot get into recovery mode. Please help?

I've found that I need to let mine cycle a few times before letting go of the power button. If I do that, it goes right into recovery every time.

My phone won't boot into recovery mode either. I've tried letting it go through several reboot cycles before letting go of the power button. I've gotten the update.zip onto my phone, I just can't activate it because I can't go into recovery mode.

3 button recovery is broken on some phones, there is a fix on xda using odin but i think you lose your apps unless youre backed up, which you probably wont be if you cant get into recovery

mine wouldnt either the other day.. but i kepy trying, and it seems, i let i cycle a couple times.

after i rebooted again, i kept the 3 buttons pressed for a good 10 seconds after the ATT boot screen, and felt a short vibration from my phone, then i let off the buttons, and the recov menu came right up.

I did a master clear using odin because i was following the instructions for getting the serendipity ROM. And even now, I let it cycle through a few times and it still doesn't seem to be wanting to go into recovery mode.

you need to use the odin that has a 3 button recovery fix built in.

I figured my phone out. I press down all 3 buttons, let go when the first ATT screen pops up, then press all 3 buttons again when the Galaxy S pops up. the recovery screen comes right up then. the only problem is i can't take it past the galaxy S screen now....

Ok I did some research and I think Odin messed up my 3 button.
But no worries, I got the superoneclick utility app to root my phone and then I used quick boot to go into recovery. Everything is running smooth so far and I should have the new Serendipity ROM soon enough!
