Help Recovery mode

Can anyone tell me why when I boot in recovery mode it goes back to factory settings and erases all my Apps? I have done a back up so could I just get a file manager and reload my backup instead of re downloading all the Apps? Just can't figure out what I'm doing. I also want to enable my kit file but don't know how. Any help would be greatatly appreciated. Thanks

the vortex doesn't like to go into recovery mode (menu). i believe it's because the spl doesn't support custom recovery or fastboot

If u installed custom recovery already it shouldn't be doing that. if you did install try going back and re installing the recovery again make sure you do all the required steps it should work.
