Root [Recovery][Root]Pantech Breakout Root & CWM Recovery All in One

@rabidhunter -

Oh yeah that happened to me last night too, can't remember exactly what I did.

Try pressing one of the keys on the front, "Home, Back, Settings, or Search", or press the up and down volume, or the camera key.

I think it does go into root mode after the little Android and Box icon and even after the exclamation point icon.

You are in the right place, try one of those keys and wait, and let us know if it works.
If not, then hold the Power and Search button longer.

@ alanski

Thanks, pressing the settings key brought up a system menu. That's going to get everything going. I feel so much better now.

I got another problem now.

I ran the software (the 1 &2 thing), then I booted in recovery mode (thanks again @alanski) and then attempted to flash the Breakoutroot.zip file. But I get the following

E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

Any suggestions?

I'm going to try and install CWM on my wife's phone when I have a chance. I loaded a recovery from getitnowmarketing on these forums when I first rooted her phone. Do I need to remove it before I try to put CWM on it? If so, can anyone link me to guide to do so, or give me directions? Thanks

Nope, just run the .bat and you will be good to go.

I tried using the steps in the OP and nothing really happened.

I'm not sure CWM was installed when I did the Allinone.zip. I did boot my phone into recovery. The option to install from .zip was not one of the options. Instead it gave me the option to update from .zip.

I tried that; however, it gave me a message that it was unsigned. What am I doing wrong?

When you run the .bat file, what does it say on screen?

Alright what does it say on the computer screen once in fastboot?

It brings up a command prompt with options 1: to install Recovery. 2: to install CWM Recovery.

I have done both these, pulled battery, waited for 30 seconds, replace. Power on holding power and search buttons. A droid guy with a box appears, then after a little bit he has an "!" in a triangle. Then I press the settings button to bring up the options. That's what I've done thus far.

Thanks.

Ok when you do it only select to do the cwm recovery. It sounds like you are installing the stock recovery back on it after installing cwm. The one you are in there is the stock recovery.

Thanks, MTMichaelson! I just got a Breakout as my work phone replacement yesterday and was pleased that there was a custom ROM to load. Looks and feels great thus far. Looking forward to your work in the future.

But I've tried more than once to only download the cwm, but when I get to the recovery, I get the

error.

The only option I have is to "Install update from SD card" . Is that right? Thank you so much for this!

You are in stock recovery. Which zip are you trying to install?

Breakoutroot.zip.

I accidentally installed stock recovery the first time, but I've tried it 4 times now with only installing cwm, and it always brings me to stock recovery.

When you run the cwm installer what does it say on the computer screen?

Ok, it is not connecting. You need to install the proper drivers for fastboot to work properly. I included a driver in the zip. One person said it did not work for them because they ran 64 bit but that is the only driver I have. Someone else may have another and I can add it to the zip.

Tried using this method on my Pantech Burst because there is nothing out there to root it right now. I get through the first part with phone going into fast boot mode and installing CWM. Struggling after that point though. Once the CWM install is complete I don't get the Pantech splash screen nor can I boot into recovery. Power and volume down boots to flashing screens of random colors. Any ideas?
