i too desperately need to install the update. im my MANY attempts at using mtmichealson's pre-update rom, about the only thing that i have been able to do consistently is switch back and forth from cwm to stock recovery. hell, i got that part down.

with phone off, while holding the "back" button, plug in usb cord. pantech splash screen pops up for a sec. continue to hold "back" until screen goes to black screen with white text that says "fastboot mode" or something like that. then run recoveryaio.bat and select which recovery you want. and as far as getting the update, still need help getting that to work.

I have done everything I have found in this discussion. I have tried ask the to and trick I have found in this discussion. No matter what I do m I can't root my Pantech breakout. My memory is so low that sometimes I can't receive calls.

Everyone I run allinone.bat, i choose 1 for CWM and all I get on my computer is "waiting for device", my phone goes to black screen with the"fastboot!!!!" Screen. That's it. it feels like as soon as the bat file runs and establishes a connection with the phone, the phone losses it's USB connection with the computer and that's why the bat files keeps waiting for the device ...it can't find the phone anymore.

I must be doing something seriously wrong after reading so many success stories here.

Any thoughts?

You could try using a different USB cable maybe, or try putting the phone into fastboot before running the script.

Preamble to my previous post: I apologize for all of the, some serious, typos. I was posting using my cell phone and I failed to proof read what I had entered. For this post, I am using my computer and hopefully will not commit the same offense.

I have not tried using a different USB cable. I will do that - I have another cable that I can try.

I did try putting the phone into fastboot mode before connecting and running allinone.bat. As soon as the phone was put into fastboot mode, it was never recognized by my computer. Thus, the result was the same - "waiting for device".

I just can't understand why the computer looses its connection with my phone as soon as I run allinone.bat and choose the CWM option (I also tried the Stock option and the same thing happened). It has a connection with the phone before I run the bat file (as evidenced by the E: drive), but as soon as the bat file is run, the E: drive is lost, thus the failure to find the device.

I must be missing part of the process that prevents this from happening. I seriously need help rooting my phone so I can free up the memory that all of the bloatware is using.

Yes. I did install the pantech drivers. In the "add or remove programs" list, I see "Pantech USB Driver for Android phones ver. 1".

The pantech driver install prompt happened when I first connected my phone to my computer and I completed the install.

I have the same issue. I received my Breakout Monday, and due the the limited internal space I would love to root and remove the bloatware so that I can install the apps that I actualy use.

Can someone please help me. I tried downloading the files in the first post and im getting an error, saying them links posted are invalid...

Okay, I found two ways to root the Pantech Breakout:

a) SuperOneClick
b) zergRush

I have not tried either one of these, but will ask a guide to come over, who can help you better.

Check back in here in a bit.

These methods will no longer work, they have been broken for some time now with the updates. You _must_ install CWM recovery to root.

I tried the method but for some reason I still haven't been able to root my phone I don't know what I am doing wrong when I try it tells me it is loading than it says it failed because it doesn't have permission and than aborts it I wish someonewould make a video explaining step by step how to root the Pantech breakout for people like me who have never rooted a phone. Have been trying for a long time to root my phone so I can remove some of the bloatware and overclock it too but I can't root my phone

When I install CWM recovery (yes, I'm absolutely sure it's installed) anything I select with any button just brings me to the ClockworkMod logo and doesn't do anything. When I press any button, it goes back to the main CWM Recovery page. Help..?
