Root Recovery

Just installed recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-bravo and find it so much faster to navigate. Playing around again but coming back to dGB for the amazing space obtained after installing the custom hboot.

All I did was format everything then flash your hboot, then the above recovery and installed your ROM.

I think SUroot was comparing recoveries: a lot of us have recently switched to 4EXT Touch, so as a CWM Touch user the question was whether you'd tried 4EXT as well?

Ah, did know it existed, may try it another time. Happy with the setup atm.

Yep. 4ext is good. I switched yesterday. Also installed sandvold ics beta. I think only camera problem is remaining. Otherwise its stable.
Was impressed with sandvold installer. Auto detects hboot and does a custom install.

I installed Runnymede the other day (on a friends device) and that was really impressive too.

Yes that one. I didn't play with the Rom at all. As soon as it was passed boot anim, I handed over. But yeah, nice installer

I read on xda that only 4ext is to be used when installing Runnymeade. Is that the case? Ie only certain roms can be flashed using a bespoke recovery?

Also - a general question. Is it recommended to flash 4ext over cwm 2.5.0.7? For me, so far at least, I've had no issues and don't see the need to.

I was on Runnymeade for a while so followed the XDA thread. Somewhere in that massive thread (just don't ask me to find it!) the question was asked, and it was confirmed that you could install it via any CWM recovery - it doesn't have to be 4ext.

I found CWM 2.5.0.7 perfectly stable and only switched for a change. There's no actual need.

I was the same with Amonra Hadron, just wanted to see what all the fuss was about, but i must confess i do like 4ext, quite impressed. :)

Yeah, only problem I've had so far was one time when the touchscreen didn't respond. Just battery-pulled and returned to recovery, all worked fine.

It is a little quicker using the screen than clicking the volume rocker or scrolling the trackpad. And it's a lot prettier :)

Trackpad was always too sensitive or not sensitive enough for me... And using it to move then select was a nightmare. Volume was very hit and miss too. Much prefer touch.
