when i go into recovery i just get a red triangle. Tried to reinstal twrp but still getting red triangle.

Is the phone recognized using fastboot on your pc?

Try fastboot flash recovery recovery.img with the recovery in the same folder as fastboot also renamed to recovery.img

That red triangle is the stock recovery
