i used the method over at xda to root the JB update we had a few days ago,but the repack was GB27 ,but there was an option to flash back to GB28 and still keep root, which is what i did,but i want the custom recovery,is there a way to flash the recovery without having to redo everything again?

couldnt you just flash the repack GB27 to get the custom recovery and then reflash the GB28 once you are done?

Yeah, if you go back to GB28 kernel you also go back to stock recovery.

On this phone the kernel and recovery are intertwined and not independent of each other. So unfortunately you can't keep the recovery that came with the GB27 repack and also have the GB28 stock kernel.

Is there any reason why you wouldn't want to just keep the GB27 repack kernel/recovery? I think it performs as well as the GB28 kernel. At least until a GB28 repack comes out. In fact, I'll look for one now and see if it's available.....
