Help Recycle folder in Gallery

Wow, I don't know what model you have, but my Verizon model doesn't have a recycle folder. Which figures - they're very good at dumbing things down and assuming their customers are idiots.. M

I would think that it would act like a Windows recycle bin, in that you can delete photos and that's where they go. If you have second thoughts or delete the wrong picture, you can restore them.

That must be a feature that T-Mobile added because I have a factory unlocked N8 and the Gallery app does not have a recycle folder.

Every Android phone I've ever had did not have a recycle bin in the gallery app

Does it give you the option to restore by long pressing the folders or images in the recycle bin?

No, can you restore what's there now?
Get everything out of the recycle bin?

Ive a tmo variant and in the STOCK sammy gallery I dont see a recycle bin. where is it located? can you take a screenshot for a brotha?

It's called trash on my unlocked Samsung version. Look in your Gallery settings. The only items in mine are the animated GIFs I deleted and a couple of screenshots I deleted. So far. But then I haven't deleted any photo's yet.

This is all I have in the gallery settings.
Nothing about trash.

Also, on mine it says recycle. Both Tmobile and Spring.

It doesn't look like you have activated Samsung Cloud and I think the setting is part of that, It looks like there are a couple of settings more on mine... Cloud view and Trash. They show up after I sign into Samsung Cloud Sync

It's free and it's 15GB... that's plenty to backup & sync. The Verizon model has Samsung Cloud replaced with its own Verizon Cloud, which is 5GB and I refuse to use it out of principle. Working on a fix!

I don't know. If you look at the screenshot of PureAndroidUser above you will see where Samsung Cloud is saying to sign into your Samsung account to sync your images. I have already done that in settings and there is a slider now in my gallery where there is none in yours. I can turn the slider off and the trash folder disappears. So I would guess it would just hide the Samsung option.

ok i have samsung cloud activated. i don't have a recycle bin but i have "trash" .

I think this is the same as "recycle". your photos are in the cloud.

so to answer your initial question,

"recycle" is there in case you want to "Restore" a photo. same as on a PC, same as on google photos.

so op, is your questions/concerns addressed?

Well I was asking if someone could explain what this folder does and said I don't explain why it has images in it when I haven't been deleting any images at all.

Seems to have duplicate images from several of my other folders.

So I still don't understand that, doesn't sound like anyone really knows what's going on either.

I guess you could close this if you want.

Thanks

the reason the folder exists has been stated: if you delete a file, it goes there. if you want to restore it, you can get it forem there.

did you sync your other photo cloud storage with this gallery app?

did you "restore" from an old samsung backup to the note 8?

if you recognize the photos, they came from some backup or some other source that the phone is syncing with.

ive a t mobile variant and i dont see a "recycle" folder but I do have a trash folder. the photos that are in there i know why they are in there because they went there after deleting them.

if no one is "understanding" as you put it, perhaps be a bit more explicit in what you are actually asking. I assure you there is a logical reason why you are seeing what you are seeing.

you initially stated:

Could someone please explain to me what this folder does?

I haven't been deleting anything but it still has images in it.

I, and others, answered the first question, and without "seeing" the photos you see in the folder, we cant really explain what or why you are seeing random photos in there.

i do know that some phone may have demo photos in their gallery app to show off the apps features, but since i don't have that in my tmobile device, its difficult to find out what you are seeing.

no need to get disgruntled about it. if you want the answer, let's discuss.

what could be helpful is to post what photos you see that are ones you did not take or add. maybe they are indeed stock photos...

What I don't understand is why brand new photos that I just shot go to my camera folder and then after a few hours there is one just like it in the "recycle" folder.

As I said:
"Could someone please explain to me what this folder does?
I haven't been deleting anything but it still has images in it."
