Help Red navigation buttons on front don't stay on?

Is it possible to have the red buttons on the front to stay lit? I find they don't really light up unless it's very dark. It can be dark enough that I can't see the icons, yet the red backlights don't come on unless I place my hand over a light sensor. Is everyone's phone the same?

nope sorry, that's the point of them, just like on the incredible.

they only come on if there's not a lot of light in the area.

Wow. It needs to be pretty much pitch black for it to light up. Thought I had a bad one. Thanks

really? mine will light up if there's only alittle light in the room..if i'm in a well-lit room, they won't.
