Help red spots on my screen

rsarno

Thank Me, Im Irish!
under the clock, around small icons, around letters on keyboard .. all of a sudden there are faint red highlights all over!

And they are steady they dont flicker, and are always in same spots

I have sorta ruled out a hardware issue by taking a black photo .. if it was a faulty screen it would show the red spots on the screen when viewing my black photo, but it is really pitch black.

So what can i do/try? Its my wifes unrooted phone.

thanks

everything looks fine, thank you for linking it. But the problem is still there.

Whats my next step? Have already rebooted, will try a battery pull now, and really want to avoid a factory reset.

Thanks so much.

EDIT, battery pull did nothing

Very weird issue, could definitely be some type of software glitch.
There is a few other similar apps in the market for stuck pixels/burn in, might be worth a shot. Sometimes stuck pixels/burn in only appear with certain backgrounds, hence the black photo not showing them.

Have you tried different keyboards?

i have looked at pitch black screen and the pixels are fine

just when the UI is layed over, these red highlights show up. Is there a way to re-install or reboot the UI some how?

Like I said sometimes you can only see the burn in with certain backgrounds up (black screen won't always show it).

Could try installing a different launcher.

Is your wife's phone one of the AMOLED units from launch day? Do the red spots appear only at certain brightness levels? Try displaying a solid blue, solid yellow, or solid green screen (just set the wallpaper to a solid background) to see what happens.

Sounds like burn-in, all right. If you move an icon that has the halo, do you still see the mark where it was?

well i rooted my wifes phone, installed a few roms, and even did a factory reset. same friggin issue! I dont know what to do!

Red spots are not consistant .. on one rom they are in one spot, on another rom they are somewhere else. On various wallpapers it shows stupid red lines.

again, no idea what to do! Everything points to it not being a hardware issue, but its still there even if i change the software.

any suggestions?

Now that it is rooted i went to take screenshots and send them ... i took screencaps and emailed them to myself, but when i opened the pics they looked perfect!!

wtf is going on?!?

Try dead pixel detect from the market. If anything shows up, and maybe even if it doesn't, try pixel fixer v2.0 also from the market. Worth a shot.

A physical problem with the screen isn't likely to show up in a screen capture - snap a picture with a real camera.

that makes it even more likely that it's a hardware problem.

Just to update this .. im pretty geeky and i tried everything i could think of to fix this, and it didnt work.

Finally convinced her we will get new phones (yay!) but then all of a sudden 2 nights ago the issue just went away all of a sudden.

root didnt help, new ROM didnt work, factory reset didnt work, but then a week later it just fixes itself WTF haha

now no new phone for me lol

It took like 3 weeks but my wife's issue just disappeared on its own!

I tried everything and couldn't fix it, but now no more issue

Was Verizon willing to give you a new phone because of the problem? If yes, I'm going down today to get a replacement.
The problem is getting progressively worse and is very annoying. Every image has been effected.

No but I didn't try very hard, only went to 1 store.

Also my wife's didn't get worse, it was exactly the same for maybe 3 weeks then just went away all on its own.

Even rooting and adding a rom didn't help. Nor did factory reset
