Rediculously long boot time?

JWhipple

I've yet to time it, but, my Esteem feels like it takes 3-4 minutes to boot up. Anyone else seeing anything like this?

It's rooted and debloated... and yes, I've done a battery pull.

Is this every boot? Or only after you've wiped caches and flashed a new ROM?

have you installed a boot animation, and also have you tried factory restore by holding vol up and vol down and tap power?

exchange it asap...

Ok, not that I am questioning your knowledge, but, everything else works fine. What's the thought process behind your comment?

One other thing - only other item not stock on the phone is a 16GB MicroSD card that I put into it - and yes, I've tried it with and without the MicroSD - same boot speed.

Just a theory:
A lot happens during the boot process. It could be that the system is waiting on something to happen.. and waiting.. and finally gives up and continues on. If that is the case, and something is failing, what will fail next?

Like I said, just a theory.

I just timed it with the MicroSD in there - 2 minutes 9 seconds from initial power-on-vibration to main lock screen, so, it's not nearly as bad as it seems.... going to try without the MicroSD and time it again...

<EDIT> Same amount of time without MicroSD...

Can anyone else time their boot and let me know how long it takes?

one thing wanted to know, what all bloatware was remove, cause in a similar post a member here was just going threw deleting things not including google stuff and the phone was similar to the problems you was having, but their phone also have froze. But normally if a problem starts and i didnt break it and i couldnt fix it, than back to the store it goes, less headache also, and you know how things go sometimes, something happens and just when you think nothing else would happen than POW...

Just had a thought. Are you running apps2sd? If so, did you move any apps to the SD card that include widgets or services? Apps that include widgets or services shouldn't be running from the SD card.

good question, also did you move the dalvik to sd card, cause the lg phone will out run a class 10 sd card and cause apps and dalvik to make your phone run slow and choppy.

Mine takes a while to boot up also. I've never timed it but it runs fine so I never really questioned it. I don't remember how long it took when I first got it but soon after I got home with it I put in my 16gb sd card and I also have a sh*t load of apps on it. Like I said, everything else seems fine so it doesn't really bother me (I don't reboot it that often.)

I never thought my computer would blow away my phone in boot time.
My computer with Windows 7 and a 120GB GSkill Phoenix Pro SSD boots in 24 seconds.
My LG Esteem with a 16 gig SD takes about 2.5 minutes.

Pretty sure that before I mounted my 16gb external card, the phone was booting up way faster. If you have a bunch of stuff on your external card, be prepared to wait. Someone who is rooted though should be able to disable the media scanner and shorten the boot up considerably..

One of the perks of an SSD!

also with booting a phone certain apps like to boot with it also, running in background apps...

I thought you could only put apps onto the internal (i.e. virtual) microSD card? Every phone I have seen that has an internal SD card is like that.

Same page here i guess we need a clean out rom for this phone asap... it does take a long time to boot up i have check it with two different phones and they are the same... ...

Mine takes a couple of minutes to boot too. I will time it again, but I know once it was 1:45 and another it well was over the 2:00 mark. It's had the OTA update. I did not root it before the OTA update but immediately afterward and removed some of the MetroPCS programs.

Othwerwise it works fine. The only cache I remove is the browser cache on Opera and Dolphin browsers. I don't use a general phone cache cleaner on this phone.

OK, I just finished reading all the responses after I posted this, and the long boot time is just normal for this phone, I guess. No biggie. I do other things while it's booting up.
