Refurbished captivates

Carmen u must be rich since u own and plan to get a new windows phone.

lol....the luxury of having up to 5 lines to use on my acct
at any given time

and then i call at & t
and tell them that i lost my phone and im using a feature phone so no need for data....

works perfectly

I bought my Captivate from AT&T's customer relations department. The guy told me that department NEVER deals with refurbished phones, yet when I typed the IE__ number into the web site it said it was a refurbished phone. I called and complained and got a $75 credit. They swore it wasn't refurbished, that their computers were in error.

Do you have a phone number for them?

Call the regular customer service number and chose the option to cancel your service. That will get you to the right group of people. Worked for me.

Yup. That's what you do.

When I called regular cust. service and asked about the refurbished thing, she had some "tech" person sitting next to her run the IE # on her computer, stating she didn't have "access to that database." Sounded like B.S. When I asked to speak to customer relations, I got the $75 credit to go away. Customer relations gave me a $80 credit (on the call when we ordered our new phones) just to commit to keeping the 2 lines our kids have for another 11 months. We would have done this anyway as everyone was getting a phone upgrade. Nice though.

I think a lot of price changes are coming for AT&T; gotta keep up with the other big gorillas in the cage.

Got free refurb from AT&T "company" (i.e. site provided to big corp for their employees) site.

Had it 3 weeks now, came in looking completely new, performing like a champ.

Love it.

Do you have the website to lookup if the phone is refurbished because I bought the captivate from them and they told me the exact same thing.

I find nothing wrong with refurbished phones. Particularly from Samsung, refurbs are always a great deal.

Agree but ATT charged $200 and they told me it is brand new so I want to make sure that they didn't send me a refurbished unit. My wife's backflip is a refurb and it works just fine even after falling into a bucket of water by accident.

I just got my refurb a few days ago. If your phone came in an actual Captivate box, it's probably brand new. Refurbs tend to come in a generic ATT box that says "Certified Refurbished Equipment".

I only paid $18 upgrade fee + misc fee for my refurnished Captivate. It has been working fine for the past month. Sometimes I wonder why people would pay $200 for a brand new one. My refurbished looks brand new. I guess other than warranty duration, refurbish is a damn good deal.
