Reinstalling phone contacts from SD card

Hello. I wounder if anyone else has had this problem. I had a blown pixel on my Desire so i got a new one form T-Mobile. I had backed up my contacts on the SD card and when I reinstalled them to the phone all the numbers have gone into a US style format, for example the number 01345 456732 has become 013-454-56732. These are number copied to the phone and not form the sim.

Has this happended to anyone else? I sthere a way of sorting this out without redoing each one?
 
May i ask you,how did you backup your contacts to SD?
I want to transfer my contacts from my Hero to my Desire.

The optimal way to backup your contacts from an android to an android is to make them all google contacts, then to sync your google contacts.

Then, they will be on your new phone as soon as you input your gmail account.

The option to backup contacts to sdcard is not available on the Hero, its a new feature of the desire.
 
Yeah,i found the option import/export contacts on Desire,but not on the Hero.
I'll try to synch whit google then.

Syncing with Google is the best as even if your phone and SD card break, you will still be able to get them back.
